"water pump raise thing" (copy right pending), is just about complete, final sanding and some engine color paint. I'm trying to find some gloss dark brown spray can hi-temp paint, anyone have a source?

also progress on engine mount....... put a 5 degree angle in to match engine to frame.

made a few little changes to above picture and dropped of at "Gusset Welding" in Middletown, PA

got the body on to test/place engine so when mounts welded up I can bolt in and start on steering/exhaust etc.....

I'm super happy with how it fits; 1/2" between distributor and firewall, 1/2" between crank pulley and front spring U-bolts, 1/2" clearance all around 17 1/2" fan and 1/2" between fan and radiator (i'd like to have alittle bit more, but gonna go with it, engine will be very rigid mounted) and have about 2" minimum above carbs for some custom air cleaner/s.

crank is inline with manual crank handle hole with a 6 degree downangle, only thing i'm not really happy with is auto-tranny pan is very visible front side view. (not too self, don't leave painted orange)

all very close, (except "framing hammer"...... very funny) it's a front track bar mount (frame end)....

also got this 1956 Delco-Remy distributor with a Pertronix ignition already to go off Craigslist.

getting ready to start on the steering column, shafts and joints.... seems like I'll have enough room with this exhaust manifold I'm thinking about going with.
    tacked the track bar mount.
also picked up these 1" valve cover spacer at Spring Carlisle, still undecided on valve covers, but kind like to look of old steel ones.

no real updates, been busy with life......
I've moved that damn steering box 3 times, tried 3 different exhaust manifolds and am still not happy.
I'm considering cutting and welding a factory exhaust manifold to gain another 3/8", will see.

  20. A Belond style tri y header build would be fun ... did I say that ? I'll just slink away now. No trouble here ! Have fun.

you can try a early Chevelle exhaust manifold ,they dump at the Bach and clear the steering box on 40 Fords like they were made for it. I think Dorman products sells reppop ,They tuck in tight and have a curve in them where the steering shaft clears. It's just a thought and my 2ct. worth. Frank
