OK so I have a project I'm working on, that has figregl*** filler I need gone. Short of sand blasting, are there any methods of removal?

seaweed disc. Makes lots of dust. Get a good respirator. At least the disc won't ****** up the steel when you get down to it.

Maybe also a good vacuum cleaner after you've made a big mess!

2x on the respirator, oh and long pants and long sleeve shirt and gloves. And you'll still be itching for days. LOL

I think I was 19 when I bought my hacked up '66 Corvette. First thing I did was grind off about 4 paint jobs and all the gl*** work that had been done under it.....in shorts and no shirt. Had to sleep on a cold hard floor for a week, even a bed sheet itched!

I recommend a Tyvek coverall, or something like that. Keeps 99% of the dust away from you and your clothes. I wouldn't worry too much when it is fibergl*** filler, but those coveralls were worth their weight in gold back when I worked with fibergl*** boat building, and sometimes could spend days doing nothing but grinding.

If it's filler over metal then the propane torch to heat it up and puddy knife to s****e it out method is the easiest. It's also easier on cleanup than dust too, I just did it a few months ago. 100_6852.jpg

Torch and putty knife works best on really thick stuff. After the big stuff is off put on your disposable painters coveralls and respirator and use a DA sander with 80 grit to get to bare metal.

A cold shower after the grinding will help as well

P/S. I cover all exposed skin with dishwashing Liquid Soap and let it dry before creating the dust , so the fibergl*** will not get in the pores of your skin because the soap prevents that also works with grease , easy to cleanup afterwards
