I came across these nice. all steel, tear drop fender skirts. They measure 43" wide/long X 19" H. What can you tell me about them ?? What yr., make, mfg., etc. I am going to guess 36-40 Ford..........? Thanks in advance
You may be correct in your guestimate, but they would seem to be easily adaptable to many late '30s thru '40s vehicles. Ray
Universal? Aftermarket? They look just like the ones available in the '50s that one could buy almost anywhere. Had them on my '40. Buick , that is. Ben
They look like 39-40 Ford or Merc to me. However I am not a expert in 39-40 Ford and Merc. A link to this one on E-bay. http://www.ebay.com/itm/1935-36-37-38-39-40-Ford-Teardrop-Fender-Skirts-/371376103685
I am not disputing they may be intended for '35/'40 Fords..........only saying their use may not be limited to that application. Ray
Ray's right, those skirts (in those days) got fitted to any number of 'torpedo-shaped' rear fenders. Easy fit, just move the brackets behind, sometimes just clamped on like a Ford. These were prior to Foxcraft; Eastern Auto, Newhouse, American Auto, and many others had them in their catalogs. Boy, we could sure use some of those catalog items now... (or just use our planishing hammers, English wheels, and nibblers...)
