Never been a fan of the pro street look but otherwise that gold 40 is killer.

That's my problem I like it all. I just like some stuff better than others:)
that is why I am always broke.
My wife said if I would pick one car and focus on it I would have the nicest one around.
Instead I am always buying pieces to trade of for future projects:)

I hate to be a wet blanket, but I really feel we should not post pro street or any other modern street rod 40's here. After all this is a traditional hotrod forum, right guys?

Lots of nice 40's here. the 40 std of Irant does it for me. There is also a HAMBER from New Mexico I think that built a 40 pickup painted 41-42 Ford Niles green. I saw it in Reno last year and it was on the money-don't have a picture though.

Moriarity, you are the moderator, so please tell us, or at least me, what makes the '40 in post #866 a "pro street" rod, as I don't grasp what is any different, in the pic shown at least, other that the gold paint, which is , after all, the choice of the owner? Not trying to be argumentative, I just would like to know, as all I see is a very nice '40 coupe in a bright color. It's dark under the car, so if it has super wide rear tires or something of that nature, well OK, but if that's so, I can't see it.
I don't want to cause a thread lockdown, so delete this post and send me a PM if you want, but I fail to understand

  17. The gold 40 has very wide wheels and looks to be tubbed. I believe that's what Mark is talking about.

yes the car in question is tubbed and has very large rear tires. there have been quite a number of non traditional cars posted lately, most seem to come from facebook. lets try to keep this traditional, this is the Hamb for crying out loud. please no more billet wheels. I am not even speaking as a moderator here just as the guy that started this thread!! Billet makes me sad.......

OK, no problem, didn't realize the car is tubberd or the tires were super wide, and I looked at the photo several times, and just now looked again. I do now see that the wheels could be billet, but I still can't see enough under the car to detect ultra wide wheels or being tubbed. Apparently yall have seen another pic that I haven't.
No problem, if that's the case then I agree that it doesn't belong here.

The gold 40 doesn't have billet wheels. Those are American D spokes. Been around for ever and the tubs have been too since early drag racing which is what many of us are. Old drag racers living our glory on the street as this guy is. Please don`t delete cars because of wide tires under the fenders. I can totally understand the no billet thing as that started in the eighties.
