Event Coverage A really stupid trip

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by squirrel, Sep 9, 2015.

  1. Jim, saw you driving through Lincoln MO. I was sitting at the gas station waiting for someone to fill up. We'd been to a car show in Warsaw MO. It would have been cool to meet up with you.

still couldn't find your chevy II, but that's the third mid 11 pass I have seen out of that late seventies Chrysler 300, I dig the hell out of that car.
The pro tree gives a trans brake car a pretty big advantage, should be food for thought for the guys running the bracket deal. Hitting a .400 tree consistently off a footbrake is challenging.

I'll wait till you get back to see it on youtube. Wish I could find time to sit down and watch all 6 some-odd hours of that...

Wow, speaking of footbraking on a pro tree, did you see the guy in the new mustang was in so deep against the falcon wagon the pre-stage light was out while he was staged?

man, that final was in the bag at 1100', and the Pontiac was the only guy to make the semis that wasn't deep staging, went down HARD against the guy in the green nova.
I'd wager most of those guys are running on a .500 tree all year, it would tighten the pack a lot if they ran the bracket deal on a full tree. Cool stuff, nonetheless.
Fuck yea, I could watch this all night!! Cool stuff, makes me realize I need to get out to the track more next year!

  8. that big 300 was injolved in a accident out side of chicago. he rear ended another car. he put it some what back together using a lot of zip ties. its powered by a small block. that ford wagon was killer. a girl was driving it and doing a great job.

The Chrysler 300 is a small block?? Is he spraying it? Man, that's a lotta car to haul into the mid 11's with an LA. Thing probably weighs 4000+.
Hard not to think as you are watching that bracket deal. I saw less than half a dozen guys out of a field of 32 cars really hitting the tree. A light, hard hooking car with a brake and a big converter that reacts really fast, sandbag all week so you have a tenth in hand come Saturday night, and you are gonna really give 'em hell...They should really run a full tree, it would level the field a lot. Great stuff though, fun to watch.

This has certainly been a killer thread with an awesome outcome ! You should be proud, squirrel. One hell of a"stupid" trip ... I'm sure we'd all like to make such a "stupid " trip , LOL !! Even trying the sealed hood deal (let alone finishing it) was a win in my eyes , whether someone else "won" it or not. Good job !

Good luck with the return trip. Take it easy, you deserve it !

Once we get on the highway, the tach just stays in one place. The odometer has been fine since my last pass down the strip. Weird.

Does the speedometer work? It is weird that the odometer should stop and start as its gear driven, may be barometric pressure:D.. And I got to ask is the boost gauge hooked up? I'm figuring that just cruising down the road like you are that manifold would still have vacuum ...
