Hahaha! No, only headers say that. Sanderson is one of the very few (maybe only?) company that builds a set of headers "out-of-the-box" that are built specifically for the 49-54 Chevy SBC transplant using the factory steering setup.

Hedman makes a set that fits as well. They are for 70's Camaros. What is the part number for yours? I'm going to be needing some for the 283 I'm putting in my 50

So, thrashing to get at least the rear handles done for Jalopyfest! Driver side done...will post more pics tonight as I wrap up the passenger side as well. Pretty happy with the way this side turned out given it is my my first real bodywork. My right shoulder is killing me from sanding...

    Working out the high spots...

After this I fogged a little sage over the primer. Need to post a pic later as it got too dark...

Ended up being a perfect day and cruise yesterday!

    1442154384066.jpg

....until 10 minutes from home, she crapped out. Not sure what happened yet. Temp was good. Oil pressure was good (just changed Friday night). No loss of parts, not puking fluids. Just a big backfire and that was it. Towed her home and we try to assess today! Hey, that's why it getting the 283! If it's shot, it was a great season! No one was hurt, and I was blessed to have driven and enjoyed it this summer ad much as I did!

Looks kinda purty sitting in the sunset light waiting for a tow... :p

The back doors turned out great. They look real good. Now is the perfect time to swap out the motors. The summer shows are just about done and it's not cold out yet.

She's alive again! Turns out it was a timing issue. Somehow when we put the new cap on over 2 years ago, we had it snapped on 180 degrees opposite. Over time it must have loosened and jumped. So we flopped it where if course the groove is, replaced the wires correctly and voila!

Doesn't look like a mud pit to me as I was told. Wish I would've gone with you guys after all. See ya all at the Iron Invasion. Maybe you or Chris can start a thread on it for those of us that couldn't or didn't make it since no one else has posted any pictures as of yet. Thanks...

Hey man, it could have been a mud pit when Teddy first arrived. Of course all of the Romin Chariots were parked right near where the only mud/water was...I am working on posting a thread of my pics now! Looking forward to the Invasion. My first time ever! We are doing a drive up with all the same guys. I will keep you posted unless you plan to cruise up with the Chariots. Or maybe you could meet up with us en route somewhere and we could have a huge convoy...

Great looking ride man, absolutely love the shape, the colour and the patina. Love the way your headed, but I agree with the previous comment about satin clear coat.

What you might want to do, as far as headers go, is to go to "deto's" "Road to Redemption: 49 Chevy Coupe Build" thread. He has some headers on his car that are commercially available, but not specifically meant for the 49-54 Chevrolet V-8 swap cars. I'm sure they're a LOT cheaper than Sanderson's $445.00, mismatched, shorty, of little improvement in power, headers. I'd use exhaust manifolds before using those Sanderson's. On our 51 Business Coupe, we used 96 Caprice Cop Car, Baby LT1/L99 exhaust manifolds. They are basically a cast iron headers that sweep up over the plugs, back, and dump to the rear. Just remove the tin covers, weld/plug the AIR ports, and possibly drill one hole in each flange (depends on whether you have 6 or 7 bolt exhaust flanges on your heads), and they only cost me $45.00. They look good, they sound good, and I'm sure they increase HP. And more than those Sanderson's. OK, carry on. I am Butch/56sedandelivery.

Thanks for the info Butch...unfortunately I already bought them...but didn't pay nearly $445.00 for them. But I'm glad you shared for anyone else here who is following! I'm definately not looking for huge power, just decent over my 216 setup and more reliability and ease if install. I studied in detail a 52 SBC install that used the Sanderson setup, and once I get the Walton Fab motor mounts, it should be a fairly painless drop in. I'll definitely document it here in detail this winter!

Thank you! The body is decent, but not nearly cherry enough for me to do a satin clear. I really am going for a mild Kustom build. Here are a couple visions from Moose over on the Photoshop thread...

The headers Butch was talking about are Hedman's for a 70's camaro. They are in the $175 range I believe.
