COE COE Picture thread (imported from main board)

Discussion in 'Off Topic Hot Rods & Customs' started by Duration, Oct 30, 2007.

  1. Pics would probably help your situation as well as info on the engine / Trans / suspension setup.

  2. It is an OT so I did not want to list the details here on the Hamb, however, I wanted a fellow Hamber to get first shot at it. It is very cheap for all that is here. I will be glad to give anybody that is looking for one all the info in a P.M.

Put the door handles back on and gave the 39 a new coat of primer.

Is it only me, but I find these lowered trucks utterly stupid looking...?
These were once true work horses, now they are castrated to sweet teddy bears and dropped to ground not even to clear a country road...
I'd like at least once to see one running as it once was. Even if not hauling load, but at least standing on his own feet.

  5. You have 251 posts on a hot rod forum, but you don't like lowered trucks. Hmm! Lowered is a fact of life here.

He may only have 251 posts but he's been here longer than you. I like lowered cars/trucks also but there is a limit to the lowering before they begin to look broke. My .02

Joyflea nice looking trucks you posted and they are lowered without looking broken

Everyone has their sense of what looks good. I don't mind lowered if the rest of the build is done right. To me, stance, proportion, custom features, etc all need to work together. Some COE's I've seen have none of these working together....they just look wrong.

  10. That light blue one is on air, so it goes up and down as he sees fit. He drives it on the street at a reasonable height.

Granted, this whole thread has been on the cusp of being closed because what we post here really isn't "traditional". We've been warned a few times and I think we've been given great latitude by the admins that other 'interest groups' haven't been afforded.

That said, you're right tinsled, these aren't traditional. Nobody built 50's COE's in the 50's at all, didn't put them on IFS frames, didn't diesel power and turbo them either... BUT these trucks have been made very usable, and more so than when they were new.

I like my stuff in the weeds. Just because you don't doesn't mean they're unusable, it just means the owner didn't plan to go rock crawling with it. My '54 is going on a '76 dually chassis and will be low. I don't care if I can't drive it through a field to dig a car out, that's what my trucks for. Different strokes for different folks.

Why don't you build a big lifted one and show us the error of our ways?

Nice pics Barry, I like the rockies in the back window of your car and in the picture. What is this speed you talk about? 430 miles round trip that day.

near as I can tell the model AY was obviously low production, and was fabbed out of the front end of the little metro step van

This might be the coolest thing I've ever seen! I'm already envisioning an opening back with sliding ramps to drive a roadster in and out of! Those fade away fenders that don't fade would hinge at the bottom and reveal all kinds of tools and goodies!

I'm gonna look for more pics of this!

The top looks kind of Futureliner, and kind of one of those modern Euro aerodynamic trucks.

To be perfectly honest, There is NO Way anyone could find an insurance company that would cover that original one being driven on the roads, nor could anyone find a tire outfit that would deal with those old suicide split rings
