image.jpeg Just sittin around watchin football and searching H.A.M.B. for interesting stuff. Man some of you guys have "to die for" rides, good lord. Just thinking, what if I could only have one more car for the rest of my life, money no object, what would it be. For me, full fendered, mild chop, 32 3 window would be it. Im sure you all have different ideas on this, for some lead sleads would be the choice, others restorods or some variation and so on. I realize you shouldn't covet thy neighbor, but holey cow, cars like this one blow me away. Show me a pic of what your " dream" car would be, cost no barrier.

Not the billet wheels, but a black '55 two door hardtop Belair.

Actually, I HAD one; my Dad's bought-new one but being the FRICKIN IDIOT at 16 that I was, I wanted a van - holy moly. He kept it til '74 and sold it in perfect condition for (gulp) $450! Still KILLS me to think of it.

I also had a black on black 55 Belair that I donated to the high school auto shop i was attending at the time, to build a gasser out of....we built the car, put a glass front end on it and the school couldn't insure it so they sold it to a kid down the street go figure.

My Dad bought his '55 with the 235 six cylinder and a three speed overdrive because he thought "the new 265 would never make it" - ha ha.
He gave it to me when I got my license and on my $1.90/hr. wages at Sears and my high school auto shop tools I put new A frame bushings and ball joints in, new tie rods ends, new Sears HD (Monroe) shocks, universal joints, etc. My dad said the car rode and handled better than it had when it was brand new! But after all that I couldn't wait to get the van instead. SO stupid.

Curious what is the cheapest you remember paying for gas...My cousins and I would gather up enough change to buy gas to cruise the main every weekend at 35 cents a gal.

  9. Gas wars in the mid 60's....16-19 cents.

  10. Wow, just one eh? Well, one of these please!

Seriously, one of my dream cars would be a 32 3w exactly like the one 3wLarry had. 2 or 3 32 5 windows. And a 36 ford 5w. Plus a couple 33/34 5 windows. And my 53 ford p/u back. Really anything ford from 1928 through 1940.

  15. I consider myself generously blessed. After losing possession of this car once, I was able to get it back again. I like it more everyday. Used to think a 3window was my dream car, but a 5window is just so perfect now.

Tough question. It's probably easier to commit to one woman for life. But this one would be OK . . .

  19. Well I am getting a little long in the tooth and a little low on funds that sometimes goes with being a little long in the tooth.

This may very well be my last build:

    I am starting here:

And it may take several iterations to get it to the concept, a man does need transportation after all.

Don't know that I would call it my dream car but it is a car.

  20. Ha, I said that 3 cars and twenty years ago. You will be doing it as long as you can move.

  22. Jeez, you guys are setting the bar awfully low.... This is your DREAM car, not what's practical or you can afford.

I'd have to say, the El Matador would be on my short list, but if you're gonna dream, dream BIG. How about a full-custom sectioned/chopped '56 Crown Vicky (skirts, rolled pans, the works) with a street friendly huge-power turbo big block to show those 'hot rodders' a thing or two. It's a custom, you don't have to open the hood..... LOL

46 CHEVY LEFT SIDE.JPG Hi. Although I have had many thru the yeas my current 46 Chevy will be it. Hopefully the last build I do, specially for an ol Geezer. If I don't run out of money first it will hopefully get finished this winter. It is an old restoration of paint & interior done in 1990 and I am now restoring the suspension & recently finished the completion & conversion to the 235 engine. Wiring, air conditioner & a little touch up to paint should complete it. It has turned out to be a great Highway driver & I drive it daily.

Hey Crazy Steve most of these rides here are not practical, most are out of my price range (hence a dream) and it is the experience of cruizin in it thats worth the most...Quite a few of these rides would bring a pretty penny at the big auctions...I always say if I won the big one I'd pass on the high dollar spend it all on one dream and have a bunch of lesser dreams and be just as happy if not happier. All this being said I am already liven the dream as I have one already...well actually two my rod and my lady ;) and there is plenty of inspiration out there to draw from past and present to keep dreaming forever.
