Ain't it the truth!!---How tragic to see the whole family silent in a restaurant, looking down at the device sending a text to one sitting right next to them!

Yesterday was walking the dog thru a schoolyard, noted a tetherball pole. If I remember right the game wasn't exactly one of high skill; all you did was swing it over the other kids reach 5 times and you won - never understood why the schoolyards had them as they were rarely used. Now the swings on the other hand...

    Hi Scarebird

Out here in so-cal we would hit the ball hard to keep it away from the other guy, and when it wraped its rope around the pole to the end ' You Won '

    Rules? o_O
Ours were to try your best to get past his guard, and nail your opponent with the ball (maintaining your own guard well, of course). In the face was best, but a body shot was an honest score as well. ;)

And while the kids today are distracted by their electronic devices. where as we were kept busy with playground activities and such, our parents and grandparents had activities that kept them busy... I'm sure they would criticize the hours "wasted" today with our compulsive internet blogging... Pot meet kettle. LOL!!

My uncle bought a brand new 4 speed formula S 'Cuda in '65, silver with the black stripe, and he still has it. Still wearing the original paint. He lived next door with his parents when he was drafted and went to 'Nam. His mom who was this tiny thing agreed to drive the car once a week to keep everything happy. She had to sit on 2 phone books to see over the dash when she did. I can still remember her struggling with the clutch/shifter.

Love the Piggly Wiggly sign on the side of the building.

We used to have many Piggly Wiggly food stores here in Florida.

SWI, the half a VW beetle in post 102959 was built owned by Bill Rutan and had a Porsche Carrera engine and mechanical cable brakes. Still holds the record for Mt. Washington hill climb. Was recently bought by Wayne Carrini.

Something I hadn't noticed in that scene before - the fake '62 plate (JPM 351) has fallen off to reveal the black plate - you can see the double-sided tape.
