Turd polishing does wear one out !...

One of my hopes for the thread was insperation/motivation also , your A looks great , I like the 32 header, and surprised to see you put a rocker pannel in and flush fitted the doors!... I might be too lazy for that one!

Thanks, Yea you would be surprised how many people look at it and dont realize how many changes have been made. Then again people are even surprised to see a car of this era. Save every one you can.

This body was sold because the previous owner said it was not savable.
The whole bottom including the perimeter of the body was gone. The header was rotted and the top of the A pillars had broken free from the top.
It was all just tacked and braced together. Deck lid was missing the lower 6" as were both doors.
I had listed it for sale once and the few guys that came to look at it said the same thing "not savable".

Obviously i didnt think that but it was pretty rough overall, but compared to some posted it was actually a good start.
Regardless, it was still a piece of shit. Lol

Ive posted these before, but here they are again anyway.

    Finish..for now:

Subscribed. I have a turd in my driveway now, awaiting polishing.

  8. Haven't started it yet, but the entire bottom is gone and the deck lid is swollen shut.

Imho: I can't believe that someone would do this to the doors. Suicide doors are one of the most desireable fetures of these cars, let alone screwing up the up[IMG]per door corner. Personaly I would put those back to stock.

  10. :)
Take a better look at what you're looking at.

    Say that 3 times fast

Id want them to look original. One could possibly weld the original holes up I suppose, but you kinda cross the point of diminishing returns. I assume they are 5 on 5.5"?

This thread gives me hope for my mess of rust. There may be light at the end of the tunnel yet.
    This is the good side.

Best thread on the HAMB hands down!

I remember when these builds were a norm. I've sold more very nice metal to only build cars from scrap, can't explain it but I think it's the challenge.

Cool Pete.... I know you have to have some turd polishing photos!... Please share.

. And can you post a link regarding your 34 that's one of my near future builds

Looking at the cool cars and square roll bars book , the east coast guys have never had it easy they looked like turds in the 50s even!

Some people go to the pet store some go to the pound... And some just take in a stray ...

the 5w I got now was just going to be used for parts... I couldn't bring myself to do it ... I'm glad I didn't

Its an original sb 4-speed buckets/console car with original 4 piston Kelsey Hayes stuff on the front, its a real sixties factory muscle thing, and that stuff is relatively rare, I don't want to mess with it too much. Its even got a dimple-back 9" in it, with slapper bars, natch.
