DSCI0030.JPG Found this all original 1937 Ford Standard Coupe today. Its rust free and straight as an arrow. Great Patina! 32,000 actual miles. Keys still in the ignition. Was driven to this spot 20-25 years ago and just shut off and left. But thanks to the dry climate here, It still looks pretty good! What's It Worth?

Thank you. A voice of reason. A week or two ago someone showed a picture of a 35 Ford coupe in a barn, not near as nice as this one, and the senile old geezers on here claimed it was worth $15k all day long. I told the prospective buyer to run away as fast he could, because it was a $7k car and I was chastised for it.

Sheet metal on this car is perfect!!! And I mean PERFECT! No dings, No Dents. I don't think I have seen a Original 78 year old car this straight before.

It's a great find, as for the price to purchase, I always think it's worth as much as I'd want to pay, but I'd want the seller to name the price as a starting point.
Only you can determine it's value to you, a message board can throw out #'s. You have to know what your financial limitations are-I only wish someone would have given this information about 15 hot rods back ;). Have Fun if ya end up with it.

  9. Are those headlight because it's a Standard?

Original graceful flowing headlights have been swapped out for unworthy sealed beams.

    Cowtown,
Take a squirt can of oil with you when you pick it up
I'd imagine that hood hinges and prop need lubrication.
And be careful not to bend the hood when you realize that it just doesn't close all on it's lonesome..
..There is a small prop with latch that may need some tender loving persuasion until
    you get it cleaned/oiled/serviced.

Very nice find by the way,

    moe

I really think after reading some of these "what are they worth" threads, that where the Car is located, really makes a huge difference in perceived value.
Where I am, I could drive around Farmers Fields for months and not find that Car.
If that 37 is as clean, and dry as stated, 15K all day long here. In Texas it seems it would be half price.
If I could drive to Texas and buy 5 of these dry and straight Cars for 5-7K I could take them home and do quite well with that investment.
We all Dream of getting that "Deal" but every year that passes, and the Cars get older the difficulty multiplies.
Some buy Lottery tickets, most of us here chase the Old Car Lottery. :)

I've never had the pleasure of finding a starter car as nice as that, great score even for a '37.

It is worth the greater of the following; What the buyer (possibly you), is prepared to pay for it, or what the seller is willing to sell it for.
Before you start negotitions and base your values on others opinions, with a huge range, ask yourself, is it what you want, and how long will it take me to find another one in this condition?

  19. I think what moe is trying to say is that when the hood is in the open position you lift the hood slightly to release the latch and then guide it down. A lot of people will try and take the open hood and just push it down. There were a lot of hoods bent that way.

I've spent 3 years working on a '37 club coupe to get it that straight. I can't really put a value on the work but a body that good is worth paying a lot more for. It will save you money in the end.

Funny how 15 years or so a 37 coupe was the more valued find over a 35 or 36. Now they may not command the highest prices for a builder, but here in the rust belt, that car is upwards of 12k. That is , if you could find one like it. A friend of mine bought a 37 coupe not nearly as nice, in Texas around the year 2000. He gave 7k for it then.

Up to 12 I'd say. Looks like it came right out of the same dry climate as my 37 in Nebraska. Really nice car. Lucky find.

About a dollar 2.95.......don't bother with it and I'll take care of it! :)

  27. To buy? As cheap as you can get it!
To sell? As much as you can get! ;)

Based on my region, if it's complete, I'd say you're relatively safe on that car up to about $10k, but I'd dig deeper if the number goes higher than that, not to say it isn't worth more.

Up north of the border, that car would be well worth $15.K. if the floor is as good as the rest of the body.
