^ Indeed. But why not go all the way and take off the countour lines, too? After the fenders depart, who needs any reference to where they once were attached, especially if you move the axle one way or another a little bit, too? Gary

A street car with work by two Hot Rod, Custom, and Speed Record Car legends. Work done 1952 0r 1953. Second pic taken 1954. A '49 MG TC with "pinstripes" by Tommy The Greek, and (top) hood louver's by Jack Hagemann. Side louver's are stock. A rare collaboration between these two from the SF/Oakland Bay Area. Today this car still sports the added louver's, and retains the paint that Tommy laid down in '52 or '53. Top pic taken this year, and the "stripe" does not show up in the early pic, but it is there. Though this car not a Rod or Custom, it shows off the quality of work typical back then, and that still exist (in this case).

Photo is reversed, all TC's had rhd.

What is the big deal about wittek hose clamps? We throw them away and get new ones if they are worn at all. They are aviation junk.

Isn't that the "Bell Tel Boomer"? Feature car from the Car Craft little pages? That engine inspired me for years.

Not much room left under the hood. Is the small compressor and tank an AC unit? Blown Flatheads amaze me. I could blow them up without help.

  11. My friend Dan Henke's 40 Ford the car is the real deal built in fifties hot rod!

    1959 black lacquer paint

The car had had it's hot rod engine replaced with a stock 303 when Dan got it.

He built the 324 pictured, he has since done a stonger 324 with the following-

    3x2 Edelbrock intake

    N.O.S. 97's

N.O.S. Harmon & Collins roller cam

He also replaced the 40 transmission with a Cad/LaSalle adapted to the torque tube.

The car now ride on 15" Merc wheels

That is real cool. I had a 303 in my '38.

The 3 brothers I caught stealing parts from my '38 had a '40 coupe with a Nailhead in it. It didn't run too well after I took my stuff back. I should have been more careful removing them.

  18. The three thieves weren't in any condition to drive it anyway, were they?

No I didn't hurt them, but when I went to their house to get my stuff back their dad hurt them. The '40 went away.:(

  20. I don't know it was built by Danny Kilcup of Portland Oregon in the early to mid '50s. The Ol' Man said that he used to ride me around in it when I was an infant and I would just giggle.

Hell Bowtie, That was '61-'62 they are probably all dead by now. I know the youngest brother is. I know how I would have dealt with my sons. I did my part. My son is raising a son now. Granddad my step up.

  23. That puts it in perspective. Back then, most parents did their part. Not in today's world. My oldest son and his wife have a dog, but no kids as of now. He was raised with old fashioned values, so I anticipate he'll do the same with his children. If not, I may have to step up, as well.

  26. LOL I never read about it in a magazine. Those are relatively recent pics but it has not been redone. that is the '50s lacquer paint job and etc. just well kept.

Danny was a wizard he is one man that I regret loosing contact with over the years.
