maybe its just the angle of the photo, but that looks like a lot of dump for a Chrysler powered car.

    Not uncommon George.
Man o man, for years now; whenever I see a Chizler sitting like that I just get all gooey.

That Dragster looks like it could be the one Tom Willford had for years. His kids had his stuff for sale, on Racejunk, E-Bay and everywhere. I wondered what happened to that one, it was his favorite Dragster. Here are a couple of shots of it. BTW, Tom Prufer refers to that as the "Tampa Dump". 2013-10-13 132314.jpg Swoopy Tail Against Wild Willy Fuel Altered.jpg

Yea, that one is pretty down in front too. You saw lots of chevies like that, but not as many Chryslers. When you look at where the engine is fore and aft, and the headers, yes, that actually could be the same car. I will check some of the other threads and see if theres an overall pic of that car we can compare to your second photo.

look at the position of the upper frame rail relative to the front exhaust port on the first car and the one Marty posted. The first one looks like its a good inch closer to the top of the frame rail, its REALLY nose down. The cowl looks quite a bit lower on the first car too. I don't think they are the same car.

George, Tom's car had a distinctive chute pack tail, the body was built by Doug Kruse, and has never been painted.

I checked Grouchos thread, no overall pic of that car. I think theres one on here somewhere, but I gotta go to bed. I'll try to find one tomorrow, and add it to this thread so we can compare it side by side with your pics.
Doug Kruse body, man that's some provenance.

Yes, much engine dump on this car....but careful camera placement and wide angle lens exaggerated the look too. I believe they said it was an original car. Likewise, the longer than normal weedsweepers lent themselves played to the exaggeration factor.

ah ha, tricky camera work!!:D Its a great photo by the way. Yes, getting up close with a wide angle would make it look more extreme, I should have twigged to that.
I still want to try to find an overall photo so we can compare it to Martys pics and suss out if it is the same car. The headers really look the same.

    Hi Marty,

I suspected that was the chute pack car formerly owned by Tom when I first saw it at the CHRR. Got to talk to the owner a bit during the weekend, confirmed, it's Tom's old car. Seems to me the car has found a great caretaker. Real nice guy and very enthusiastic, just like Tom!

That shot is cool as hell.
I really did a double take when I looked at your avatar. Theres a local guy that has a chevy II sedan IDENTICAL to yours. I have a white on blue Chevy II 100 wagon that's very similar.
Correction: I just checked your profile, yours is a '67, the local one and my wagon are '66's. Other than that, your sedan looks exactly like the one I am talking about.

I was honored to be the driver of the Howard's Twin Bear car at the CHRR. It was about 40 years since my last push start! Too much fun! 12132508_10206042806361864_8295238447151916740_o.jpg

    Oh baby!
That picture is exactly what I was talking about in my previous post.
Not just the engine tilt either, look at all that unpolished aluminum and magnesium.
    Blower, check
    Injector, check
    Rocker covers, check
    Halibrands, check
I'm good for the rest of the day.

DDDenny, remember the sbc Warren Colborn and Miller car with the long boat headers on it? I'll see if I can find a pic.

I have seen a '67 identical in appearance to mine in NJ and recently one was just on Ebay located in Connecticut. I thought my color combo was fairly unique. Always liked the steelies with dog dishes on 'em too.

Out here in so-cal in the early 60's a lot of the fuelers had that steep engine angle along with the weed sweeper pipes

Kind of short of short on the wheel base and off the line, wheels up layed over and the pilot smoked in

Ah yaa those were the hay days of the fuelers, even had flag starts too
