I put stuff in safe places all the time sometimes to safe....

  3. Yeah, one new lost part... I had one copy paper box. It seemed that every lost part was in THAT box. It was out of the way and not in plain sight. Finally emptied it out.

Lost some expensive NOS trim parts as well... swore up and down they were in a US post office 10" x 10" box. Tore the house and garage apart, swore someone tossed them out on me, turned up in a box of paint supplies I moved from the kitchen to my shop.

Now the newest lost part... might be possibly on top of my rollaway top box. I'll have to sort that out later if I get a chance. The thing is bright and shiny and 2 j-bolts hanging off it. Hard to lose...

That's simple enough. Every garage is too small. Period.

  5. Not sure if my garage is too small or if I have too many "treasures".... Picture 7472.jpg Picture 6198.jpg

  6. truck002-1.jpg Here is where I have built the vast majority of mine. I was also not really able to push it outside to work on as the driveway has a considerable slope to it and I had no way to get it back in.

I had a similar issue on losing things. Got sick of it-turned the empty room at the back of the barn into a warehouse.

Cleared everything out of the barn that wasn't pending which left *way* more room to work.

36' X 40' with a second floor. It's too small by half. You'll have to get used to it OP-it wont change, even if you find a bigger space ;)

    Times 100 :)

Been there, learned what mega-organization is all about. Once you learn and apply it, it's all good.

  12. Several years ago I built my new shop 30" x 40",when it was under construction I thought I had all the room I would ever need, truth is it doesn't matter how big it is you will fill it up.

I still have my old 20" x 24" attached garage that is full of junk but I can park a couple of finished cars in while I do dirty work, body work & welding. HRP

I have a 2 car garage, but my wife insists on parking her SUV in it. Makes it real hard to work on my car if it doesn't run, at the time, and it's pushed up against the wall. Now I have to move everything from behind it so I can swap the car for the snow blower,

They're never big enough. You just gotta make due with what you have.

  16. I can't currently complain. We recently moved to a farm, and I have an entire barn to myself. The barn used to be the carriage house for the farm, and also a blacksmith shop. The garage portion of it is about 35' x 35', with loft storage above. Right now, it seems immense. Check back in 6 - 8 months, and I'll be complaining that it is too small! As soon as I'm done throwing out the crap that the previous owner left behind, I can start filling it with better stuff.

  17. Well after seeing a lot of these, I feel lucky to have such a massive garage shop to work in. Haha. Thanks guys. It's amazing what you can do when you set your mind on it.

Looks like this problem runs worldwide. I have a single car garage that is so narrow I can only take an axle out of one side on the car I'm currently building. I have a small shed and also rent a garage for storing other cars and a range of parts for all the projects, and a couple of cars live outside in the weather.

It will never be big enough! I work in an 80 x 80 shop and it's too small. Of course we have bigger equipment but any shop is always too small.

The new space at the new house. A good cozy space with decent room to work around a single car.

Old photo, there is stuff on top of the Steelback now. Back wall of the garage will get that window next month along with the sheetrock stacked against the wall freeing up some room.

  22. 2 car they say.....right. I've been collecting cheap plastic sheds in the backyard for parts and equipment in the garage. I work in the driveway a lot.

The coupe is no longer mine. But I added a sandblast cabinet in it's place. I have room for only one car.

When I moved here, my shop is 18X30, 10 foot ceiling, half of what I had. In five years I've learned that what it takes to build the car goes in the shop, if it's not for the car it goes into storage, wherever that might be. I think collections and mess limit your progress to the point where I now know I have enough room to build, everything that I don't need immediately gets put away, drug out when it needs to be used, not left where it was used. It's the only way I can make my space useful.

Hmmmm, I'm wondering what's in the blacked out pool above?.......

  29. That's really good advice there. I just organized and put things away and now making some progress on my car will be much easier.
