You are correct! I believe it was from a '55 truck for consistencies sake.

Ok i have gone back and read this thread from the beginning. I didnt see any of this info.
I dont mean to bug you to much about the steering, but i have another request.
Can you show me a picture from under the car towards the front, so i can
Get an idea of the steering arm and cross steer linkage.
Also did you usethe stock column?
    Sorry for being a P. I. T. A.
    Thanks

Vega box will work fine on stevens 55 because it's a bit lighter than your average bel air. The next one i do would probably be a saginaw box.

They are speedway steering arms that were modified because at full length there was a clearance issue. I believe i shortened them and redrilled a hole. Steers great.

Another note. On the second series truck axels keep the truck spindles and kingpins and use the speedway disc brake kit, it has an option for 5 lug and it's cheap, plus it uses gm calipers that have been around forever. But check the brackets they are super thick but i had a set that had a slight bend to the. Which would have bound the caliper up on the rotor.

And it was a stock column cut down with a different shaft. I believe ecklers sells it as a conversion kit. Came with shaft and carrier bearing. I did machine a bushing for the column but cant remember why.

    Thanx for all that info.
I will call my buddy and get that axle from him soon. Then maybe next winter perform some surgery.
    Thanx again for your help.

I used the stock column and box on mine.
    55 chevy truck axle
Tri five steering arm on the top
The truck steering arms on the bottom modified.

I took a lot of info from this thread.

I think he had better put some screen in the grille holes, while he's laying out hay in the hay alley while pulling the trailer , he might suck some hay up and plug up the radiator

    Hi Steven

You done good son with your 55' looking like what we had in 60' street racing with our tri 5 chevys

Killer looking ride too with that great candy paint job topped off by turned leaf lettering

What I like best is your sets level like my 37' was, and not looking like an airplane ready to take off

In 64' when I started running my 37' I raced quite a few 55' gassers in b/gas, always cool cars since I had a 57' for my street racer and tri 5's rule to this day

Looking forward to seeing your notes on how you like your car when you gas her up !!

    Don

    P.S.

You wont have to go to the gym for a arm work out as reaching up to keep all the chrome clean on the bottom side, should do a pretty good job LOL

Been busy on other projects and waiting on a near-final round of parts, but some assembly has resumed this week and will be back at it full time next week, so stay tuned!

Once it got past the rolling stage, the rest isn't all that exciting. But here's some pictures anyway.
