I recently found a 29 Willys Whippet Coupe for sale for 3000$ I was wondering if anyone had any in depth knowledge on them, For Example: Vin Locations, Any traditionally hot rodded ones I can check out, common problems they have body wise(from what I've seen looking at others in the same condition finding one with a good roof is a pipe dream), also is the price good on it? . I'm young just getting into hot rodding could use some tips. I have found some basic information on them but it is pretty hard to find anything really helpful. This is the only picture I have I will be going on the 16th to check it out and i'll post more.
Looks like an interesting project with a reasonable price. I think that is a Sport coupe and the wood and canvas is just rotted away or perhaps taken out and used elsewhere. Make sure you get all the parts that are available and inquire about where they got it from. They may reproduce this stuff. Yes Vin# and ownership is important. But you may be able to buy/reciept and apply through your DMV for new issue. Lots of stuff on this here. Do a search for 29 Willys and you may find other threads pertaining to your queries. Apparently they do have a lot of wood which can be expensive and time consuming. If there is wood left you can use it for patterns. Hemmings is a good source for parts as well. Also I goto mcpherson auto restoration program so getting ahold of the wood design shouldn't be that hard we have an extensive library I just haven't had the chance to go look for a book on them yet.
I was pretty sure that was the car. I actually saw it some time ago while snooping around the site. Sheet metal looks pretty darn good...lots to work with there. Sounds all good...You are entering into a rewarding career and certainly these things would be all parts of your training. There are many builders/members to follow and aspire to on this site. The car you are looking at is a unique bird. It would make a great hotrod. It is very reminiscent of a Model A and it has a cowl vent...Woo Hoo. Check out some of the sport coupe threads for even more potential ideas for moving forward. Again check into the process of making sure all is legal with the car and it can be cleared first and foremost. Keep us up on things.

Nice coupe. VIN tag should be on drivers side frame near tail light, on the top of frame . Aluminum tag with 2 rivets,about 1.5 inches long. you can get blueprints from Greg on the WOKR website. Good folks but be forewarned,they kinda stick to bone stock type cars.
Stogy, nice willys you have there. I went to the link you posted and saw more pics of your car. Noticed you have the same steering box as my 98B. Mine seems to be pretty tight. Have you had yours apart? Can't seem to find much info on it. Thanks, Brad.

Hey thanks for the info I actually ended up contacting them a while back. This car has sort of a bad rep with the it's mismatched by and Frame basically nothing js there to work wit. The shell it's self is held together by clamps and bondo he just cleverly hides it. I greatly appreciate the help though!
