    They fit very well, thanks for the pictures. It looks like the build is coming along well. The wheel choice looks good on that car too.

    I had a set of early Chevy II fenderwell headers that looked like they might work also but didn't take the time to try them as I already had the ones from Tubular. The early Chevy II is also a narrower car than the Tri-5 passenger car.

    So far it sounds like it might fit the Southeast gassers rules. Us 4 speed guys are a dying breed.

    No you're not crazy. Although your midyear is a nice car, it may not stand out as much as a drag car and the fun factor is way up there with the drag car, my opinion of course.

    It's been a racecar for years Jim, most recently a Super Gas car & not really a nice car...nice racecar maybe. The frame has been hacked & beat on over the years & I suspect possibly bent a little...the pass front wheel is 1.5" higher with the frame blocked up & level.

    I've gone about as far as I intended with the '57...it was never going to be a racecar, just a restored Gasser. This car has good safety equipment, roll cage & all the things you want to race with plus converting it only enhances the number of classes I can use it for.

    I had seen the cage but not sure what you had done with it. I figured you were thinking of going similar to the picture with the stack injection and lettered up which I thought was a step up. Cool either way.

    Hey Dan. No crazier than the rest of us (or some of us). I like the car just the way it is. Great look and stance. I'd straighten out the chassis and turn it into a " really nice racecar". I have a 65 Chevy II that I was going to put an axle under , un-pro-streeted the rear,etc, but the car runs mid tens in street trim just the way it sits, and why go through all that work for a car that does everything I want it to do already. The other deciding factor was I also have 4 other projects waiting for me to find the time to start on. Bottom line is if it is what you want, and you have the time to do it, go for it. I'm going to like it either way,I'm sure.

    Thanks Jim, Baron. Converting the car makes it eligible to race at any of the Gasser meets & that is really the only kind of racing I'm interested in at this time. Should I decide at a later time to go back to bracket racing, or Super Gas/Super Comp or anything else, the car will still be just as competitive as it is now (actually better because the frame will be square). I'm really excited about it as it presents a new set of challenges.
    Baron, as far as stance I agree it's a shame to change mine...but what if the car's stance is adjustable...as much as...say a foot? It could be as low as it is now in the front, or it could be nose up in a matter of minutes....stay tuned! ;)

    Hi Dan. Doug sold all the race parts he took out of his car to another guy in NH who is building a clone of Hayseed,using many of the parts that were removed from the Corvette. Been in the building stage for 3 or 4 years ( since I first heard of the build ). The clone should be right on the money.

    Yes, he does. He just went through the car again 2 or 3 years ago. Now a NCRS Bloomington Gold and Top Flight recipient. The car is perfect. Had a chance to talk to Doug at the Hot Rod Reunion. Super nice guy. And all his cars are flawless. Has a killer 31 Ford Roadster on a Deuce Chassis, running stack injection, no less. Here are a few pics I took of the Corvette last summer.

  26. Neat that it got restored, but man ya would almost thing the value would be in the history as is race car. cool it's still around and documented, but looks like all the rest of the restored turds
