Looks great. A friend of mine is doing a '55 Roadmaster (same body) and his car has factory tinted gl*** but it looks more blue than green. Does your new side gl*** match the color of the original rear correctly? Also, did you have to buy a new windshield? I hear they're incredibly expensive.

    Keep up the good work.

Excellent work! You should be proud of your accomplishment. That's a lot of car do do body and paint and see through to completion.

Welcome to the HAMB, what a great project! When ever a new build is posted on the HAMB there is one feature that first catches my eye, in your case it is the firewall. I don't think many people would have started there, but when you think about it that is the perfect place to start. Looks like you have a good eye for details, this is going to be a nice car when you get it finished. Bob

yeah they had clear, blue and green hued gl*** back in the day from what I know.. and yeah its matched to the rear. I took the original gl*** down and they knew what I was looking for and made it the same green hue. and I need a new front windshield but ive held off on buying it because I don't need it yet and it is VERY expensive since its curved on the sides.

thank you for the compliment. and yeah in the pics you can see that pic where half of its painted and halfs primer because of the sheer length of the car. we had to split the painting into 2 separate times to get it as good as we wanted.

Looking good BigIron, it takes a lot of work to restore a Cadillac, and quite a bit of money, as chs***ans42 has found out already...don't know if you've seen my '55 Cadillac build thread as it is a couple of years old, but if you've got the time, take a look:.

My Caddy's logged over 30,000 miles in the past few years all over this country and twice to Canada and the west coast...and love every mile of it...

  13. Nothing better than some good quality father-son time; even better if it's sharing the car hobby, and best yet if it's a H.A.M.B. type build!!
Congrats on it all, that's going to be a real top quality ride!

Not many guys 18-28 have the stamina to see a project like that through to the end... That in it self is quite an accomplishment

  15. A great eye for detail, not many young guys like you around, appreciate all the pics, keep'em coming!
Oh, and welcome to the HAMB.

sorry I haven't posted updates in a while, like I said in one of my previous posts I was starting college, so once college started things have been nuts. but don't think I slowed down on working on the car, ive made lots of headway and its almost done at this point and I'm super excited. since I last posted ive had the factory radio rebuilt with modern electronics, but now it gets AM FM and AUX, but the cool thing is it uses all the original dials and face so you cant tell its updated, the autronic eye has been rebuilt and installed, the door weatherstripping has been put on and all of the windows except the front windshield is on. the power antenna works, I even rebuilt the 6 way power seat. new glove box to. I replaced the vacuum operated windshield washer motor with a electric one from a 1956 chevy, I also got rid of the vacuum operated windshield washer fluid system and put in an electric pump instead. also redid all the rubber lines that carry the washer fluid. dash has been painted and installed, padded dash has been reupholstered. the rest of the interior is out being done and I actually have the car at the interior shop right now. ive done to many little things to remember at the moment. if you have questions about anything I did feel free to ask. enjoy the pictures! more to come. 103_0275.JPG 103_0275.JPG 103_0276.JPG 103_0277.JPG 103_0278.JPG 103_0279.JPG 103_0280.JPG 103_0281.JPG

so here is where it is currently at, I have every piece of gold plated trim on, all the chrome is on, the car has been cut and buffed by me, and here is also a picture of the front seat, all white leather and the cloth insert is factory NOS material I will have the car done I ***ume in the next couple months, I'm really drained and I'm just trying to hold out and finish strong and trying my best to not cut any corners

It looks very nice, very clean. I know it gets tough toward the end, tempting to just quick finish up and ignore the details, but you have a good at***ude about "finishing strong" (good terminology).
