my aluminum rods are doing well .

  2. I really wanted aluminum rods but I was told that, being I plan on driving my car on the highway for long trips that the aluminum rods will stretch!
I never ran them so I don't know!? Maybe it doesn't matter if you have enough quench?

  4. Sounds like they work well for you! There is no way I can keep from racing, even if I'm on the road alone. (Then I'll race myself!!!:D)

  5. I have a set of REM AL. rods for an A engine. I was warned not to use on the street with over 7 to 1 as they could stretch. I guess they could be opened up on the big end to B size as it is they are not much of an improvement over stock A rods weight wise. Bob told me he only made 1 blank and bored them out to what ever he wanted. The lateBob Kehoe had 2 sets of the A rods and traded 1 or both back to Bob for a set of his Riley side draft repops that never really worked very well. He couldn't find the right floats. The original Riley's didn't have an idle circuit. Must be some out there.

  6. My engine is 9.5 to 1 C.R. with a .600 lift ratio, a 4 port cross flow Cragar head and dual Stromberg 97s

  9. I'm actually going to put my dampered engine in the car today. The head is so big, that it has to be off the engine while install or it will beat the crap out of the firewall! I do plan to take lot's of pictures during the assembly, especially the flywheel and damper area!

    what compression ratio ?

  22. 6:1 I love the Mopar connection though.

  23. Thoughts, advice, warnings on hardened valve seats for the exhaust in a solid B motor. Running 6:1 with enlarged intake valves? I hear there is a possibility of the block Breaking on install?

    a little water in #2

  25. Although I did reinstall install them on my latest engine, it was a diamond A with hardened exhaust valve seats, I wouldn't have if it had not had any. I had to correct an earlier poor valve job. There was no lead in the regular gasoline when the A B engines were new and although it was a lower octane valve seats seemed to last well as long as proper clearance was maintained. There are lot of old tractors running today that pull hard and you don't hear the term "valve seat regression" on their forum boards. So I guess what I'm trying to say is that the use could be overkill. Over on the Barn you read of the attempts to re-engineer the AB engine to todays tighter tolerance standards. These are, after all, 80 year old engines. This probably did apply to a lot the engines that were currently being used when they eliminated the lead.

  27. Here's an update!
The front motor mounts took a little time to figure out and fit. I'm thinking about rounding the edges and blasting to match the Roesemead Calif. cast mounts on the rear. But first thing is first! (Getting it running!)[IMG] [IMG]

On my car I used a piece of Delron and turned the OD to the yoke Dia. Bored the ID to fit over the splines. Left the end as was to give me something to grab. No more pouring gear lube all over. Seemed easier and quicker than looking for a yoke.

  29. For cars that have a more stock set up, updraft carb on same side as exhaust, would there be a benefit to fabricating a cold air type set up? Just curious as I was looking for an air filter for the car, I was tripping up cold air intake filters and motorcycle filters.

I like the front Motor mount. Did you have to trim the front cross member?
