A small update cliff. Finally got back to the garage I fixed some rust in the right rear wheel well that I don't take pictures of then I replaced a section behind the drivers door.
Hard to see but here is the section coated in machinists blue.

First put some contour in with the slip roll
    ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1446425668.762001.jpg
Then put a brake in the panel an shaped the radius at the bottom.
    ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1446425721.259407.jpg
Then add the brake the other way

    ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1446425828.602864.jpg
    Here it is tacked in
    ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1446425861.663734.jpg
    Final welded
    ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1446425882.780467.jpg
It came out aright I need to do al***ude more work I warped it a little even though I took my time. Still better than the rust.

That looks real good. Keep up the super nice work. The only reason I needed a update. Seen the Henry j in town this evening blasting down the road and had to see if you have been busy.

Nice to see a 56 that's totally period correct. Those wheels are dead nuts, man. So is the four port, the crash box, the stance, and even the four bolt flanges on the headers. Straight outta 1965 baby.

They don't sell g***er wheels in a ****in summit catalog, 1000's of clueless 'g***er' owners could get a clue from you.

That was deep thanks for compliment. I'm only 25 but like the old stuff. Half of the fun is finding the stuff. I know what you mean I hate seeing the wannabe g***er wheels and fake moon tanks. I'll probably only be able to drive this machine a few miles but who cares haha. one day I'll be old and wise.

You got a rare find with those flat spoked American fronts, I bought mine in 63' when putting the 37' together and never saw another set while running my car

I don't think they made too many of them, I guess people did not like the flat spoke

The mag would get dull on the machined parts of the 4 wheels, so I had a 3" dia wire wheel I used in 1/4 drill motor and it made the wheels look like new

So each time I ran the car I would trick up the wheels with the wire wheel, and it made the car look much better like it was when brand new

That's some good info on the wheels I knew they were pretty rare, but that puts it in perspective. I wish I paid for mine what you did in 63 haha.

Got a little holy grail in the mail today. I've been looking for one of these for years. The only problem was someone milled the flange. I located a replacement that had a drive broached into it. Together it will make a cool piece.

Saw someone posted 9 months until the meltdown so I figured I better get my *** in gear. I jacked the car up and welded the underside of the frame where gm left of. I still need to do the back section but it progress.

At one point I only had the front jacked up a foot of the ground. Looked pretty bad*** in wheelie stance

My friend you have awesum skills for someone your age. Im so impressed and you seem to have great knowledge of whats acurate for the build you are attempting. When you mentioned getting this done before wife and kids I wondered how old you are. Thats what did my 56 g***er build in back in the early 70's. But Im back into old cars and have a couple of great sons to share them with. Anyway very nice build. Need to post a video when shes on the road. yruhot

Thanks I appreciate it. I'll definitely post a video. There's a little strip of road by my house that's shaking in its asphalt knowing what's gonna happen to it.

Finished welding most of the frame up. Then I painted the top with Por 15 since I won't be able to get it from the bottom when I paint the frame and floor. Next I'll finish up some welding on the rockers and bend some brake lines before the floor goes back in.

Thanks. My intention for the car is to make everything easy to work on at the track, so that had been my thought process building the car even if it takes longer.

Did some work this weekend. Looks like thanksgiving might be the last nice day for awhile here in Chicago. I want to Por 15 the inside of the rockers so that's the day. I did some lead work on the rockers but when I looked in my supplies I only had two sticks. I ordered some from east wood. Only one side got done. Hopefully it comes by Thursday morning.

I'm happy with how it came out considering the last time I sling some lead was 5 years ago.

    Hey fast30,

I didn't realize you were a young'n haha ;) I'm 27. Wanna race me when you get er finished? 360 sbc w/no power adder, g-force 4 gear, olds/pontiac with 5.38s and a spool. That blower'll prolly run me down but I'll still give er hell. Especially if you blow the tires away off the line ;)

Problem is, we gotta find a way to bridge that 1200 mile gap....

Keep at it dude, that car is shaping up very nicely. All that rust repair looks very familiar haha. -Kevin

I'm down. I hope I'll have it done for the meltdown. If you plan on attending? I know it's a cruise. If not maybe the hamb drags? We will see if I'll be able to handle this machine. The first motor will be mild. How build is the 360?
