Hey, Model A PU has a silly problem, when driven in dark, the lights from the car behind me tend to keep reflecting between windshield and rear window. Must be parallel glasses. So it looks like tens of cars, reflecting to my eye from the windshield. What have you done to prevent it?
It's like driving inside of a Rubix Cube, ain't it? Open your front windshield a bit and you will be fine. You can also chop it a bunch to cut down on the problem... -Abone.
Lots of old cars had a window blind in the back window, this is why. Multiple reflections occur because the glasses are flat, and are both vertical and parallel. When they started slanting the windshield and back window the problem disappeared. Some custom built twenties town cars and limos had forward slanting windshields for this reason. Opening the windshield changes the angle of reflection. I don't know if tinted glass would help.
There isn't a real cure for the problem. The old cars were not driven much at night because the bulb lights were more for you to be seen and not for you to see where you were going. A blind or curtain may be your only option if you have to drive at night.
You might try one of those sunshade things that people put in back side windows to shade the rug rat in the car seat. Tuck it away in the day time and put it up when you need it.
Thats why Model A Fords had an optional window shade. Most people think it was for privacy but it was for glare. I wear glasses and it seems 10x worse, I don't even want to drive at night anymore.
Model A trucks had a flip out windshield when they were new. Can you un-fix it? Got any pics? -Abone.
I have a 26 T coupe. The reflections are really bad. It's not only the front and back windows. The side windows do the same thing. In a lot of traffic at night, it can be very confusing. My T came with a curtain in the back window. I'm going to try it.
And when you add in a vintage style, flat rear view mirror, the fun even gets better. My next build will have one of those two glass panels tilted, to fix just what you are describing. I hate it. Gary
Load the bed with Hay Bales and strap them down. Light will not come in through the back window and the hay bales will make it look traditional............................. Jeff
later cars have similar problem with mirrors. why there are Day/Night mirrors and tinted outside rear view mirrors. wear sunglasses. get dark tinted flat glass framed and set up an electric track to raise and lower in back window. but, then there is the side glass problem.
I have seen into other dimensions through mine. My two best solutions: - lean towards the door and look at an angle - hang my black hat on the rear view mirror to block some reflection
