Pushed my 51 out of the shed today for a bit of a look, all coming together pretty well.

And I know its no shoebox, but had a fiddle with my late granddads TBird, mainly removing springs to see what it would look like

Here is a few of mine. It's not the first time it's been posted on this thread but it's the first time by me. I bought the car from 2345.coupe in August. I've just been making small changes to make it mine.

I finally found the Best Shoe Box Convertible I could find after many years Of searching.
Now I have to decide should I or shoudn't I make a mild custom out of it. It is so very nice
that I will try and sell it first. However if it does not sell soon I will not have a choice. Last
2 photos dropped 2 inches in rear and added 57 Caddy Caps.

I have had a 49 Meteor Coupe for more than 20 years now...(a work in progress, gravity is my best friend). It is a Pro Street version with a narrowed nodular 9", 468 BBC, dual Edelbrocks on Edelbrock alloy heads with a Pro Torque converter bolted to a 4L80E.

The body work was finished years ago and I'm finally getting around to 'giving her some loving'. . I'll post some pics of it if anyone is interested.

  13. Where did you find it? It looks like one my friend recently sold.

Thanks man. Yours is killer too. Your car gave me a lot of inspiration while building mine. I finally scored a visor. ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1459880969.842874.jpg ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1459881012.587833.jpg

Man, you did your car right! I have seen a lot of black shoeboxes. But yours is so tastefully done. From the stance to the wheels to the visor to the little bit of Red in the engine bay that just pulls the interior. Geesh.. Love it!
(where'd you get the colored air filter?)

Long time lurker here and hopefully am computer literate enough to get 2 recent pix of my 51 up on here. I've had it a few years now and its come a ways since getting it in flat black.Adjusted the stance, wider whites up front (not in pix), paint and flames, skirts (being reworked) and lake pipes, always changes in the works but so jazzed to be able to cruise it.

Progress has been kinda slow, but I'm fixin' to ramp up the tempo here pretty soon on my '50 Club Coupe. I love this car, and it needs to be saved from years of neglect and sitting out in the Oregon rain. Floor pans for now, then on to the brakes and body work. Motor is a good 8BA flathead and runs like a champ. Hey, sorry for the double photos, computers confuse me.

I have a quick question regarding wheel backspacing for any of you guys running 8" Maverick rear ends. I currently have the stock (56"?) rear end and wheels (3.5" backspace) and have about 3/4" clearance at the rear tires to fender (205/75R15). I'm looking to get some chrome O.E. style wheels and the one's I've found have 3" backspace. I think I could possibly get away with this (moves the rear tires out the 1/2") but when I put the 8" rear (56.5"?) I think I may really be pushing it. I'll be running 6.70-15 Firestones for tires.

In any case, to any of you w/ and 8" rear end what wheel backspacing are you running?

    Thanks - Tanner

We have chopped our shoe box a little and laid down rear window 1 3/4 also .But have found we had to lower rear view mirror to make it useable (a bit ugly) is this the correct mirror for a 49 coupe? our centre screens divider has no provision for a mirror. The mirror really has to stay where it is now anyhow as we obviously have holes in the headliner. Cutting the mirror stem to lengthen would be a little like cutting a ice cream cone.
