Oh.. I've got and listen to many of Johnny Cash's albums. From there to Imelda (gorgeous) May I thump my foot listening to all of them. But mostly I tune to Motorbilly Radio (live365) and let it roll.

Sweet list. Big Sandy? Wow, nice one. Paladins? Oh yeah, the best. Deke Dickerson? Now hold on there a minute, Deke Dickerson? That's cool, dude knows his music.

The HAMB never ceases to amaze me. It's not just with the talented metal working and the knowledgeable mechanics, but even the level of music knowledge really impressive. I love this place!

Well, there you have it, that's what makes the world go 'round. I have two words for you . . . Bill Kirchen.:)
Great song, but give me David Lindley.

Hal pounding away on his little blue Ludwig backed by the Wrecking Crew posing as Young Cougars (an oxymoron?!). Some super early fuzz guitar work here to go along with the usual beat beat, brass and castanets. That stubby little Don Spinney-Fred Steele T roadster really got around back then! image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg

There was a group that I caught a few times in Portlandia a while back called the Blubinos, this is Monti Amundson's homage to the 60's Chevrolet coupe utility vehicle. Crack open a pale ale and get your inner mullet on.

I have a digital file of my favorite music that plays on an old Apple Ipod Touch. It is the last one Apple made and it can be mistaken for an old Apple Iphone. It is loaded with all of our music files in one place. It sits next to the original 2nd version of the older Ipod that also looked like a really old phone.

Those two have all of our music saved and when we go out to the garage to do some cleaning or a project that takes longer than just a normal sweep and pick up, the music list is there. So, 5 songs are on many lists and there is no favorite per se. The sound is blasted through some bluetooth speakers and it is just like a mini concert. Some of the groups were: CSNY, Traffic, Rush, Doors and The Cure.

We/I played this song many times this year and during the mild summer of garage cleaning (drawers and cabinets), this one hit the spot.

Last day of summer was September 22 2025

    Hello,

Yes, the official “Last Day of Summer for 2025” was September 22. But, for all of us out West in So Cal, summer lingers to almost the November time period. Definitely summer gets extended as the sun retreats back South. Other than a random winter storm that just happens next after a tropical rain shower. But, between those random storms, it is warm to hot, so far… Ha… some timing.

But, our garage is a nice insulated, warm place in the winter and cool in the summers. The garage door is insulated and no longer hot to the touch anytime of the year. When we first moved in 25 years ago, as we walked in back of the cars parked inside and the door was down, it was a feeling of heat emanating from the roll up door skin. Actually, it was hot to the touch.

Now, our door is fully insulated and as we walk by the back of the daily drivers, cool to the touch. Insulation works.

I was gathering stuff from our attic door openings for some memorabilia for my wife and happen to hear the playlist that included the Cure’s “Last Day of Summer.” It reminded me of our high school days at the beach waiting for the moment when we had to report back to school for football practice and those awful “Two-a-Day” practices. It was still August and Summer was still going on for most of our friends hanging out at the beach.

Yes, the rewards were great, athletically, but it was the last day of summer and it was HOT! In between plays we rotated positions and got to sit with a cold wet towel on our heads, while sitting on the bench. The football aides got a lot of work picking up our towels when we had to go back into our normal positions as the game continued on the field. Yes, summer sometimes does get hot in So Cal…YRMV

1961 September at the Veteran’s Stadium across the street from the Douglas Aircraft warehouses and the Long Beach Airport. Hot playing day in front of a large audience, all sweating in the glaring So Cal "end of summer" sun...

This is one of my all-time faves. In my mind's eye it's twilight, freeway, top down, slow lane, thoughts a million miles away, eye's in the mirror, watching the cities slide by.
