  2. WTF?
He didn't take those shots and doesn't own them, "watermark" or not.
I've seen almost all of them before.
What gives man, those pics don't belong to you!
They are all from The Library of Congress!

Wow the good old days of newspapers as protection while spray painting. My cheapo boss at the dealership made us use it well into the late 60's for "used cars" while the new cars that we repaired got the new fangled paper from a roll with a tape dispenser attached.

I was afraid of that - there were a lot that I didn't post because I recognized them from here. PM me the ones you recognize and I'll take 'em down.

Never said I owned them (and I've been looking in lesser known state and university archives, not the LoC) - just was trying to keep the same photos from being repeated so often. And I state on the first post where they came from. It's like the vintage photo site Shorpy putting their mark on the images they post.
From here on out I think I'll stick mainly to yearbook images - they're not as high quality but they haven't been passed around so much (probably because it takes a bit of work to capture them and fix them up), and leave the "CBC" off (but keep the "H.A.M.B. Vintage Shots").
    Deal?

    from Here

I don't mind seeing any photo twice, thrice, however many times it's posted. I don't go through my personal boxes and stamp them in any way.

Any embedded watermark usually denotes ownership or copyright or whatever. I personally find them a distraction as attention is drawn away from the photo and the eye focuses on the watermark. I scroll right past the watermarked photo's. But utilizing 'ignore user' is also a way of not seeing the distraction.

JMHO - to each his own.

Some times some of those newspaper sheets had little pin holes in them, and when you un-masked you had little dots of color where you did not want any

  13. Not sure if these cars are old enough for this thread - although the Mustang is cool.

  14. Never use newspaper in single sheets...I always use at least three plys..Newspapers are a throw awat item after reading them,so why not use them for masking..Been doing it for over 50 years..

Enjoying all the pics posted lately, a real good batch. Have seen a few before but the vast majority are new to me. I am not bothered if I see a repeat, there's no need to get hung up on the subject and start taking stuff down. The one of the little lad running to his dad as he marches off to war is very poignant.

    Those floods were brutal.

  16. I'm sure that there are none, or maybe a few, gamers here on this website, but one game I had to share here, LA Noire. A detective game that takes place in the 40s. Many of the vehicles in LA Noire were based on cars owned by Jay Leno, who gift Team Bondi (the game developer) access to his personal collection of 1940s vehicles.

That's what I dream of as a photographer, 50 years from now someone will take the photos I've taken and put a ugly watermark on them.
