I was at a used book store, and came across this magazine, had to buy it. So then I started thinking, anyone from the magazine here on the HAMB? What happened to the cars?

I'm no help on where anything might be, but keep those pics coming! The '37 sedan delivery looks like Orv Elgie's, very well known, the gold 32 3 window flat out rocks, that channeled A sedan is righteous, and I think I recall the gold hemi powered T in regular Hot Rod magazine coverage of an event (maybe won a streetkhana?).

I seem to recall seeing some posts from Orv.
I do know he moved to central Oregon many years ago.

The red '34 had a blown flatty in it, got ink all over the place. Trying to remember the owners name. Ditto on Orv Elgies sedan delivery, and I think its still pretty much as pictured. I liked that black & gold Chevy, it was featured in one of Petersens "Complete Book of Chevrolet" annuals, I have it.

It would be neat to see what some of them look like today, if they are even around today.

The cover is definitely the Van Iderstines, at their New Jersey home.

  18. A lot of those cars look very familiar from the publications at the time and a few were probably in attendance at the Nats East in Timonium in 1974.

Falcolngeorge: The '34 roadster belonged to Dick Patton it won street rod of the year that year. The gold '32 3w , I believe was from New York and it burned up on the way to a show at one point ;if memory serves. Defiantly Orv Engles '37.

  23. Yep, the red '34 roadster did belong to Dick Patton of Springfield Ohio. The pic was taken in Memphis in '75. He is no longer with us the way I remember. I believe the green '32 IS Van Iderstine's. The Silver one I believe was Johnny Rodgers from Memphis. The delivery was Elgie's and the '32 three window did crash and burn on the way to or from a show, maybe Detroit nats. It was definitely that era. I "still" have that mag.

Yes, that's Pete and Family in NJ before they moved to CA in the 1970s. He sold that sedan before he left. But he is still playing with '32 Fords. I keep in touch with him but haven't had much luck in getting him to explore the Internet. I'll try again with this thread.

The black 35 Plymouth coupe belonged to Roger Walker of Huntsville Al. He and his exwife won the the C-cab pickup that was given away by the Minn SRA. that year. He sold the 35 Plymouth coupe and as of last year he has never seen or heard from it again. He also sold the C-cab . He is still very active and owns several high end hot rods and street rods. The 34 chopped 2 door belonged to Jim McPherson of Nashville and was later painted purple. The 34 roadster was later in the Atlanta area with a jacked up Corvette independent rear end and flames. I haven't seen or thought about it for 35 years .years.

Channeled with fenders is a look that needs to make a major come back.

Dick Patton was my grandfather. He is no longer with us unfortunately as he passed away in 1999. But he is not forgotten thanks to every single one of you in this post. This whole post just made my entire family break down crying, laughing, and a bit of reminiscing. now it's being passed around throughout the entire family. Thank you for keeping his memory alive. We hear his car is down in Georgia somewhere but we have been trying to relocate it. I can't thank whoever posted this whole thing enough. Every single one of you are a blessing. I know this post is old but I can't thank all of you enough. This whole post means the absolute world to my entire family. Whoever owns the magazine if you would be willing to sell it ever you have a buyer right here. Wish all of you nothing but the best. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Yes the Silver 32 Sedan was Johnny's. I still have the Trailer Hitch that Johnny gave me on my 32 Sedan.

  30. ...Chris, I'm so glad that this thread was able to bring some level of joy and happiness to you and your Family. Hope you will stick around here on the HAMB even if your automotive interests don't always align with what the site is all about. We always want to welcome the younger generation to this traditional hot rod world. Enjoy........Don.
