  7. My apologies. I haven't been in that part of Perth for many years and was relying on hearsay. Thanks for the current photo.

Hey, no drama, we all make mistakes from time to time - this one was no biggie, I just wanted to set the record straight was all.
    Cheers Roger.

Had a buddy that bought a long bed Dodge pickup about the same year as the one pictured. Ordered it with the 426 wedge. He showed me pictures with the bed full of trophies from back in the day. He took me a ride in it one time, pretty fast for a Dodge! I heard it is now in a Mopar collection these days.

I'm wondering, what's your favorite decade?

  15. Hey Maggie! ( and other Webfoots!)
Remember when you could drive on the beach on Oregon and Washington?
Here's Cannon Beach and Haystack Rock.

You can drive on the beach at Gearhart Oregon and Long Beach Washington still.
We were at Cannon Beach a month ago, it's one of our favorites, the weather was spectacular, surprisingly warm for this time of year.

Greetings, longtime lurker here, been reading this thread for what seems like years. 5 or 6 I guess. First off, a huge thanks to all of you who have made this so captivating, there's just some amazing and rare stuff showing up all the time!

Speaking of which, that short ugly stubby aircraft on the trailer in the quoted post is a McDonnel XF-85 Goblin... only two were ever made, as parasite aircraft planned to be launched and retrieved via hooks on the B-36 bomber (kind of like the Navy did with their rigid airships in the 30's). The project was very much a failure and the two aircraft were retired as museum pieces, one to Wright-Pat and the other to Norton AFB in San Berdoo. I'm guessing the picture in the post from Delaware Ohio is the one that was on its way to Wright Pat.

For such a rare and bizarre "X" plane it's really impressive to have found a picture that someone snapped on its final journey to be tucked away in a corner for posterity.

  19. Deepwater and I are on the same trailer/vehicle wavelength - I love my vintage trailer, and like the simplicity of it, and these old photos.

Thank you, Maggie - never fails that whenever a vintage trailer pulls into a campground, everybody wants to look it over! There's a couple up in Bend, Oregon - Justin and Anna Scribner - that do wonderful restorations on old camping trailers and even appear in their own TV show...
