image.jpeg Just curious, what is the purpose of that bar other than supporting the front suspension? It looks as if it was intensionally built that high.

  2. Well, I guess the theme for the interior is laid out for y'all already.

That car is exceptionally cool and unique. I'd love to see it built out.

That front end setup is pretty interesting too. I don't think I've seen one set up with that kind of adjustable bracket before.

If someone put a new build on here that looked like that, they would be eaten alive for building a RR

My jaw hit the floor when I first saw pictures of this car... it is so rad! Whats the big advantage to running a frame inside out?

  6. Well mill stuffed into the cowl, adjustable front ride height, who could ask for more. ;)

The leopard cushion covers are a little over the top though. :D

  7. OK, sounds like the car was a runner in it's early days, with a banger motor, and a different frame. I still maintain the pile of parts it has become now have never turned a wheel together. We're both right.

  8. If you are talking about that channel that sticks up that makes your ride height adjustable. You can go nose down for slipstreaming or nose up for weight transfer.

The original owner said he did have one old picture of the car somewhere I'll see if it would be possible for me to take a picture of the picture or if I could get a print made from it, he said it was a crusty old snapshot so it may not work. He did say that it ran and drove in both configurations but never legally on the road.

Haha, there isn't even a stop light in Deansboro to this day so back in the '50s plates were probably optional.

That car is just so cool. Obviously built back in the day when if you were lucky you had a torch, a stick welder and hi-tech meant a portable grinder that weighed as much as a flathead but did the job. Wasn't it the Niekamp roadster that was built with only a hack saw, files and a stick welder. That car is a work of art. Thanks for sharing.

Hi! I am the new owner of your friends old roadster! ( just remembered my password) my name is Eli, I own a Hot Rod/ Restoration shop here in NH. I am very excited to own this car and would love to restore it back to what it once was.... What ever that May have been! I would also like to give credit to the builder... And the people that were involved along the way! The gentleman that I bought the car from told me that it was built in Upstate NY sold to someone in NJ... And that is where he bought it 7-10 years ago... It has been in a storage trailer ever since! I would love to talk to the builder, so that I can restore it correctly, find out about the missing nose ( it did come with a chopped '32 shell) but I am not sure that it is correct. I would also be willing to bring it out to NY for him to see it again! My cell is 603 969 4711... My email is elienglishnh@gmail.com. Thank you so much for digging up all the history of this car!

Pretty cool that this little roadsters life from birth until now has unfolded in just about one day.

AFTER Hersher 2015 916.jpg Thanks for the flash back to January 1962 when this Rome, New York built Roadster was featured in Hot Rod. If I bought that issue in December I might have still been 10 years old, and Rome, New York got burned into my memory, I loved this car, still do, even thought of building my Roadster along these lines at one time. This photo was from the feature in American Rodder, that is a barn find UNrestored original as built car. Wonder if the OP Roadster and this one ever meet back in the day. Why I can remember this stuff is a mystery. Bob View attachment 3084920

Those 5 spokes would have been a wild and expensive set of wheels in 62... sweet car.

I recall that car from eBay several years back. I saved the photos that were posted in the ad because the car was so cool. From the date on the photos, I believe that was 2008:

Can't believe the negative- crap- feedback about that little roadster- that thing is over the top COOL as HELL!
AND the right guy ended up with it ( well, after me). Every time someone finds another time capsule like that, I am glad that they survived the scrap yard. That thing SCREAMS COOL, Dad-e-o!-- Holy Sh*t!!
Then to get the history of it so quick; meant to be, end of story.Serendipity
Congrats to Eli, and thanks for posting Mr. Peetah!

Right on beaner, especially since an old stock car builder was involved. Being a ol' dirt tracker myself, it's like a pal once told me..... I asked him what purpose some light weight square tubing served on a chassis he was building that appeared to serve no purpose & he said "to make you look at it so you won't see what I've really done." :) ..... It's a really cool period piece. I'd be tempted to drop a running Flatty in it, go through all the mechanicals and drive as is for awhile-including a run down El Mirage.

I just keep looking at the details, looks like a lot of thought went into everything, dearched front spring added hoop to the steering arm, stuff like that. I'd really like to know the reasoning behind the reversed frame rails. Bob
