Maroon...the first 'custom color' I remember seeing on the chopped Carson topped Customs, and some hot rods: but it was a color for Customs! (1952, when I couldn't help but notice...Man, some day...!!!) Today. If I were 'marooned' on a desert isle, let there be burgundy! ...Or a nice Cabernet...

Gotta be careful here, this one has a little excess of blue. (end result being 'purple'!) Some love it, but most hate it... Pretty rude when you uncover it and it's 'way mad'... I recall my '32 five window...9 coats of nitrocellulose red, and it was WRONG! (too much 'orange') The Chevy small blocks weren't adorned with that color yet, but I hated it! Some black mixed in made it a dark "Indian Red"...a nightmarish experience, I'm not a 'painter', but have done the motions. I paint all my model airplanes (control line scale) but no more cars, just hate the never ending blocking, AARRRGGGHHH! My Deuce got 32 coats, sanding between every 2. My Mom asked, "HOW MANY TIMES ARE YOU GONNA PAINT THAT DAMNED THING???" That was in 1955, there's still a large ring of red gravel outside the garage. I painted it in 1955...
The late Jim Thomas' roadster.......................... The first time I saw Jim's roadster the parts had just been painted. He opened the front door and the sun hit the deck lid and doors sitting in the living room. WOW, never forgot it. Now my '48 panel will be maroon and it will always remind me of Jim.
Started this 1 on Monday, first part painted about an hr ago. Body, hood, doors, and deck lid ready to do 2morrow
My truck was destined to be maroon because I take her tailgating to University of Minnesota football games.
