Barf-o-rama! That's a damn shame...a bad idea from the start. It's rebuildable but it won't be easy. JohnnyA

A 32 Ford that the HAMB gave up on? I halfway expected this thing to have a build thread by the end of the day.

I see cars every day the are just crying out to be saved from their owner's terrible taste. This makes the top 5.

Just imagine the bottom feeder that might buy it, to finish the 'Retractable'!
Some people should have restrictions on their 'mad money', and their hare-brained ideas.

Looked at the pictures when this appeared. What a f'd up piece. There is no way the roof and rear panel will EVER work together to look right. This is a complete disaster. As said before it needs to be saved and returned to original.

I would really like to hear an explanation from whoever created that.
Why did they move the front doorjamb back, but not the A pillars? Also whats up with the patch going through the center of the rear roof panel, Did they widen it too?
At least they didnt fill the cowl vent.
I like fixing junk, but I think id prefer fixing a rusted out body that got bulldozed off a cliff before trying to sort out that mess.

Can't believe they actually thought this was a good idea and would actually function. Looks like the cowl was trimmed where the hood would sit as well.

I could save it but don't have the cash. If someone with lotso cash wants to save it I am game for it. I like a challenge. I agree that it is quite messed up, but also quite saveable. Or since it is hacked why not build a custom out of it. Tastefully of course.

I'm hoping it's a Brookville body. Who the hell would do that to a cherry(or not) Henry 3 window!?!?!

Perhaps it's semi scratch built as the cowl firewall lip is sure not original or brookville style it seems flat and vertical where there should be none. the bland firewall join to cowl where no seam for the hood exists for welting makes you wonder if the whole car is scratch built.. Dang this is very clever but should you do it , "hell no". It's may win show points but not peer points.

I agree, but the price would have to be more like 8k to make it worth the work.
Figure the pair of doors are worth around 4k, ***le $1000. I don't see a ch***is. Wonder if the owner bailed on the f'd up body and bought another one for his ch***is and is trying to dump this?

Quarters and roof would weld back up. At least it's good clean metal not swiss cheese from a ravine.
Biggest issue (other than the fact that someone torched a perfectly good body) is that the deck has been filled.

New Brookville body is 25k, 3/w full sides are $3500 each (they don't sell a back half).

Somebody phone him and get the story (then tell him he missed by a mile and his Hot Rod card has been withdrawn).

What does a 3 window body cost from Brookville? More or less than 12K

  25. With all the 20K+ rusted out pieces of **** I have seen in the last year this looks like a steal to me, and I'll bet with a little creative bargaining one could get it for less. And it has a ***le so that means aftermarket frame rails and a set of dies and you are in there like swim wear.

Somebody stake me and I'll split the profits down the middle with ya. :D :D :D

yes at this point it is an abortion, but the baby doesn't have top die.

The actual shape of the dues has not been compromised, it has just been dis***embled. Some welding and grinding a few minutes with a tape measure and a question or two on the HAMB and babaam its a 3 window again.

yea yea I know forever the optimist. :D

I met a guy here in town last summer who showed me a photo of his project on his cell phone. A 32 3 window turned into a roadster. I was speechless.... I asked him who was the idiot who cut up a nice 3W ... he replied he did ......

  27. Believe it or not back in the late '40s and '50s it was a common thing to cut up a coupe to make it a roadster. Coupes were cheaper than roadsters and roadsters were more desirable. To cut one down it totally traditional, to cut one down properly was rare though.

This is why we need to have background checks before anybody can purchase a sawzall.

does look like most if not all aftermarket sheetmetal,
a bit pricey for a parts car but it could be saved

  30. Yea we don't need new tool control laws, we just need dumb control. :D
