Obviously before the rule that said that they could not be longer than half the wheelbase was introduced.

An interesting looking drag strip. Not a lot of room for the tower, and of course, built before guard rails were common practice. Looks like it's located next to a railroad line somewhere. Anyone know where this track is (or was)?

I want to thank everybody who has contributed to this site. You have made me a very happy 70 year old person . I was introduced to dirt track racing when I was about 14 or 15. When my brother in law took me to a points meet at Presque Isle Timing Association drag strip in Erie,PA., in 1960 ,was hooked on drag racing. I've been that way ever since.

 

Before someone invented the light weight fiberglass hood, someone else invented the hole-saw.
