You just proved my point with pictures!
That ain't a new build, this is an survivor! And I love it!

No need to change that beautiful thing. Used it a lot and hard, fix broken but please don't change or update it because someone else tell you too.

But show me one (just one) that is build like yours today.
Or a new one that is a channeled 32 coupe with no chop.

Or a coupster that are being build today, with out altering the doors or sail panel to look like an roadster.

  4. I think yours is more blended than homogenized. :D

I am not sure that the box is really big enough for the characters on this site. I figure as long as I can still see the box I'm good.

Now lets see some more rods yours, someone else's, one that you like its all about eye candy fellas.

Volvo: I agree with you 100%. I just found it ironic, that you mentioned cycle fenders. Rest assured, what I haven't changed on my old "lady of the night " in the last 44 years; will not get altered any time soon!

I doubt you find any where in any rule set that you can't run anything other then a 32 ford grill on any early ford.
Or you can't run a model T brass radiator on a Model T.
    Or a 1929 chevy ain't a hot rod.
Or cars with fenders ain't got rods.

All though some members claims this ain't true.
There was a lot of non ford rods around.
But I agree with you, I know what I like and what I don't like.
What flyes and don't fly here is another matter.
But I put my trust in the moderators to regulat.

    It's more like I don't know what's right/legal, but I know wrong when I see it.

There are about 8 ways to do a grill, and 2 them ain't traditional, but era correct.

    I know, I know; I'm like a broken record.

  12. LOL every time to try and show a group how to get over the fence you have some that don't get it. You just have to keep explaining it different until the whole group knows how to jump the fence.

...or you just wait till someone builds a 100% traditional car that plows right thru the homogenized fence and everyone nods their head in unison.
Yeah....I don't intend to hold my breath either. :)

Jeremy I don't feel that the creativity has been lost at all. This site is a vehicle to present views and vehicles of this nature and otherwise and they keep on coming.
You are a customizer and there are a number of other very highly accredited craftsman here some in the business (thanks for sharing) others equally and lesser skilled in it for the love of Hotrods and Customs (also thanks for sharing) all making this place what it is.
There have been a great number of acquisitions and discoveries of past modified vehicles presented here and quite a number have been faithfully restored. You are absolutely correct that many lose some or all of the past history and sometimes it is disappointing.
Lastly for example the Hotrod I have has many things ruff around the edges. Anything I change will be tactfully adjusted or reworked with particular attention to not forget the roots of what it is representing. A place in time.

  21. That blue deuce looks like someone walking around trying to press their chin against their chest.

Yes, I know lots of people get excited about it, but I think it's a fail. God created those shells to lean back...which is why they can work so well on 33's and 4's.

Yeah, yeah, opinions are like assholes blah, blah, blah. But sometimes there's the Emperor's New Clothes theory too.

X38 your observation brings up another interesting point. Every car has a specific angle for the money shot (right beaner). You have to have an eye for so many variables. Think about car production and clay models. Stuff is no doubt scrutinized to the Nth degree by numerous individuals. Hotrod creation is an art and as you say some things are not meant to be (you can try however). That said the owner might have requested it be done that way or was okay with overall look. I have seen angled 34 style side panel louvers on a deuce and I felt it was a little off as well. Beauty is in the eyeyeye of the beholder...;)

  25. Yes, another fail. Conflicting angles. Some ideas are just ideas.

I been building hotrods an customs for a bit,I started in the 1950 with my first,an just like now and back then, there are things I see that I thought were good an bad or OK if tweeked. I kept my first hotrod I ever built and got running in 1959 an still drive it. A lot of my build was what I liked and some was shaped by the parts I could find. In this case my 28 srufsideShow121315.jpg "A" body had been crushed very bad in all of the trunk,so as a kid I just cut off what I was not able to fix and used the good part. There is always work to do,but not much has changed from way back, other then I added a folding top and some chrome headers
