  11. This is the coolest engine I had at the time. But the coolest I would like to have is an early Hemi. So I bought one and now working on putting it in something.

I have built about 20- 409 cars in my time. I did this Z11 engine in 1980. And here is a Hemi for ya!

    270 Offy.With carbs,not injected.Sorry,spaced the "V-8" part out.A V-8 "liberty" aircraft engine then.Not very practical,but really cool looking.

  17. I already have the one I think of. But I have seen some FE Fords, W-Chevys and Pontiac's that I like too. 412-vi.jpg

  19. Thanks. Yes, It is my truck that I have been working on for several years. I work slowly since its my hobby, not my job. Pretty stock 348/200 4R trans. 9 inch rear on Posies parallel leaf rear setup. Vega steering. Just started tearing it down for painting a few months back when my health went south. Hoping to be healed and finish the truck this spring. More pics April 20 2015 (4).JPG in my album.

    A V8 J.A.P.

    or

Flat head V8 with Ardun heads?

For an exposed motor or pre war hot rod.

Twin turbo AMG V8 or V12 if there's room.
For a post war cruiser just to be different.

Earlier Mercedes V8s had a cool look to them, in a bulbous Teutonic way:

What makes an engine "cool" looking? Is it being rare? Is it wall-to-wall valve covers with centrally located spark plug holes? Is it colored block and finned aluminum valve covers and multiple 2 barrel carbs? I'm not really sure. I do know that I thought this car I saw at Pomona last October was pretty freakin' cool:

    20151018_065621.jpg
Other than that, in this order:

    1. basic Flat heard Ford or Merc with finned aluminum heads and multiple 2 barrels (there's just something about the looks of a flat head that exudes "cool")
    2. Just about any Hemi
    3. Nailhead with finned aluminum valve covers and multiple dueces
    4. SOHC 427 Ford. I mean, DAMN!!!
    5. 283 - 327 SBC, w/ finned aluminum valve covers & mulitple carbs (dueces or quads)
    6. everything else...

Wait a minute, I forgot about 348 - 409 Chevys. Those W shaped heads are just bitchin looking. Not sure where it goes above, but definitely in the top 6 somewhere.

Blues4U stated ^^^ , he likes a basic Flat head with finned aluminum heads and multiple 2 barrels . I do too , ran this in my 5w for about 10 years before I put the fenders back on , changed the motor and went for a '60's look.....
