Dustan... My favorite toolbox is as yours...but it was a factory Snap On unit on one chassis... Yes, two bottom boxes 26.5" each, side by side; matching top boxes atop, metric on the right, SAE on the left. Guys in the shop called it "The Queen Mary!" A bud borrowed it to display it with his black roadster in the Sacramento car show...3 days I sweated, but I knew (and threatened) the night security guards in case anything showed up missing... Went well. (my reputation preceded me!) One ex wife and a few months later, I re-tooled, graduating to a pair of 36" bottom boxes on a shop-built tube chassis, with a pair of top boxes to match. (boxes were Mac, but most tooling was Snap-On...) That was 1980, and the then-new large bottom boxes were all the rage... My 'new' wife asked if I'd like to 're-tool'... I thought she meant her...I said, "Nothin' doin'!" Crap, if I'da known...

We mounted the front hairpins,radiator,and grille shell today. Also got the new wires and tires on it. Really like how it's coming together.
I tried those style hairpins on the rear of a T bucket, and they would not handle the torque. First time I stood on it the rear end rapped up bending them and destroy the drive shaft . They look good , but I would not run them again. Good Luck Frank
I have them on my t Tudor sedan and beat the hell out of it. No problems here. Did you just put them in without the z stiffeners or something? That's the only way I see that happening
I had a stiffner but also a blown SBC and slicks and this was in the late 60's. But if you have used them before without any problem I would go for it. I always like the look, just like early sprint cars. Frank
Haha that would probably be why. My car just has a 350 with cam intake and Holley 600. This car will probably just have a 283 with tri power and maybe mild cam.

That thing looks great. I love the 32 rails. After this one I want a coupe on 32 rails to keep for myself.
We got the steering all mocked up but we will have to drop the column about a inch and get a little more clearance at the spark plug since it's pretty close. Tonight I finally got the 32 insert so I mounted that really quick and threw it on. Nothing beats a 32 grille if you ask me.
It has been moved away now. Still tight but it will be fine. We are running lake style headers so we will be good. Looking at my lake headers there is plenty of room.
Great job, Dustan. Lower the lid a few inches, and let the toughness out. What are you using for headlight stands?
Haha for sure, Thanks. We are probably going to chop it 4-5". They are Pete & jakes headlight and shock mount combo. I used them on my T and I really like how they look. Nice and clean.

Well we finally worked on the car a little after work tonight. Chopped 4". Still have a lot to go but it is worth the look.
What happened to the original chassis? I'm guessing you're based out of Oregon from the old black plate on the wall? The frame looks really nice, that would definitely be a good way to go it looks.
Thank you,yes I am in rainier Oregon. About 10 minutes from Longview wa. We have the original chassis sitting here in my shop. It supposedly has a rebuilt motor,ignition setup,trans,rearend,it has some light pitting but it's cleaned up pretty good. Has fenders and splash aprons as well. A friend has bought it but it's still sitting in my shop 2 months after he has paid. Haha if someone needs one I could talk to him I'm sure he would get rid of it.
Looks good. You posted some pics on a thread I started about the JW chassis. My Dad ordered the one like you have. I have been sending them links to this thread for inspiration. They actually visited the JW facility and were really impressed with it. They went with the chrome axle/hairpin front as well. I think he's doing the tri-4 bar rear though. He's not a super traditional guy.....he's planning a 302 ford/aod setup in it!They plan to put a ton of miles on it. Are the shock/headlight mounts ones you ordered with the chassis? I know he said the were getting some kind of shock/headlight mount with theirs. What are you planning to use for a gas tank? Thanks for the help!
We actually cut the rear shock mounts off using the speedway qa1 coilovers because it sat way to high. We ordered the Pete n jakes shock mounts with the frame and they welded them on,but we ended up having to cut them off because they were too far back. We are using the stock cowl tank it is still in great shape.
