  1. ...that guy looks very low-buck,( as in poor),..how the heck did he load those cars, I doubt he owns a backhoe, loader tractor or forklift...?
...there's a lot of cash sittin there just in parts.

  2. Even thought those cars appear pretty rusted out, and they're probably too far gone to save as whole vehicles, they have a lot of good hard-to-find parts on them. They are a long way from being picked clean.

I totally agree with you, but I've talked to several old yard owners and they hate to see them crushed, but dealing with DB "car guys" pissing and moaning and beating them down (from an already smokin price) is worse than seeing them crushed. Like the shmucks that will offer a quarter for a garage sale item that is priced at 50¢ but worth $5!

  4. I hear you on that one, got to be hard nosed, pay the cheap price or it gets crushed or just get the f..k out of my yard. If the prices are cheap things will sell. You can make a lot from a lot of cheap parts and still have a very saleable and crushable hulk at the end.............win win. JW

  6. Josh on the HAMB bought a 2door sedan set up with a vw engine... Still a lot of good working material if you wanted to save it.

  7. ... Isn't this the one that was just put back on the road by Wayne Carini? ...

  18. Naw three and 1/2 cars. Only about 12000 pounds. the 3/4 ton trucks haven't got a weight limit. The DOT goes by the weight rating on the tires sidewall. 8 tires he isn't overweight. and the trailer brakes will safely stop the load. I haul more on my gooseneck with only four tires on the trailer. I simply get up about 3 AM drive to where I taking the load. Pull up to the gate and sleep until they open. Actual ready & willing cash buyers are few and far between. And they nit pick about condition. The scrap man has the cash and he don't care about condition.

  19. Is that a 55 chevy hard top or covetable frame? Steering is on the wrong side.

  28. Me and this guy are likely kindred spirits. Ive scrapped over a thousand cars and made a profit on every one. It paid the bills and was enjoyable work. There old rusty 4 door cars. and no matter how cheap scrap is if you only pay 1/2 of scrap you will make at least 25% profit in the end. 25% in a couple of days or wait forever to sell a few parts? I used a beat to death 64 chevy 3/4 ton for many years. it drug lots of vehicles to their final demise. And most times I always had upwards of $5,000 cash in my pocket. 331.jpg

  29. trailers like he has the cars on at auction here bring $3500 to $5,000. We used a old boom truck with a big winch to load vehicles. I see lots of valuable scrap piled up around his home. One year it rained a lot and I was working road construction. and just did not make any money. We had large payment due in January. I was drawing unemployment and just piddling around and sorting & cleaning scrap. My wife was worried about the land payment. The second week in December I sold all the scrap. made enough to make the payment and give the wife $400 to buy Christmas for the kids. A few years later some pretty police type relative was remarking to her about all the junk. She replied what junk? It all looks like money to me!
