Fan shroud day.

 

Another not so cool thing is done. The push fang shroud is done now too. I'll drive the shit out of this car when I'm done so I want to make sure I have no overheating problems. Enjoy!

I made a shroud for my not long ago. Is yours set up for sucking?

 

The electric one will be pushing. The mechanical one will be sucking.

 

That's cool. I thought you might of had it sucking, in that case the shroud has to be fully sealed to create a vacuum to draw air through every square inch of the core. All good

 

Ok I need your guys help. I'm on the fence about running the front bumper guards or not. I feel they are too bib and hang down like buck teeth. If I don't run them I'll smooth the bolt holes. Please let me know what your opinion is. Thanks for your time.

Looks cleaner without the guards

 

i'd say let them go, the guards disturb the wonderful grille area.

 

I've been thinking the same about my 3w. I say no on the front guards. Keeping the back cause I'm putting tail lights in like yours.

 

Looks good both ways, but I guess I'm in the minority, I like the guards.

 

How about slice and dice them to reduce the size a little and putting your turn signals in them to match your tail lights ?

Looks like something is missing without them.
Maybe it's because of the indentations in the bumper.

It is cleaner, but too clean.

Thank you to everyone that took time and commented. I'm so on the fence my head hurts. I feel it looks way cleaner with them off but it looks naked without anything. I don't know if I'm ready to cut them up just on the reason they were a pain in the ass to find. The debate continues. But thank you again

 

Any pictures without the square stock behind the guards? That'd help me choose.

Like the custom taillight idea.
Personally tho I would just design them up on a computer or get a kid to do it and then 3D print em off.

A fellow kiwi guy on HAMB got his kid to design an intake manifold - 3D print it off then he took it down to the foundry to use as a mould.

IMO, when the guards are omitted from the bumper, something looks amiss; the rising part of the bumper ends looks incomplete or even superfluous



Maybe that portion should be trimmed off, OR continue the riser portion in to meet the rounded part of the grill.

and maybe just to fill the middle a little bit up, you could build a kinda plate frame between the holes the guards were bolted to. Or even built sth like that by using lower part of the origin guards. ya know just like a counterpiece to the rear often used Kaiser guards with plate surround, hope my explanation works (sorry, german)

But only take my opinion for what it's worth...which ain't much.

I think it looks better with the guards off. The guards take away from the sleek look for the front end..

 

Got my Buick over to my buddy So he can start the long road that we'll call body work. I'm excited to see it in some color.
