Hot Rods Let's have our own 85th anniversary event for the 40 ford...

  1. Diggin the wheels. I considered something like that for my '40 coupe, as a nod to Dad's '34, which ran MT Raders, but the TTOs trumped those in my vision of how it should be.

Gene Sonnen's '40 Coupe and sedan. I remember going to Back to the 50's when I was 12 or 13 and even then (before I had my '40 sedan) I thought Gene's coupe and sedan were the coolest. I always loved the Dave Bell striping on the dash and period correct feel of both cars. 1395884_10201037263317017_325471718_n.jpg

  10. We've been lucky here in Maryland so far, although it has gotten cold now but I did run up to Hummelstown PA. last Saturday (in the rain) for Posies open house. Just an excuse to drive the 40 and meet up with some friends and have lunch after. :)

What I did today: Mounted the new-to-me YOM plate and Jerry-rigged some LED license plate lights. Also bolted on the also new-to-me bumper "wings" (both front and back) I got at a swap meet this past weekend. Of course that gave me a reason to got to SoCalAZ for longer bumper bolts!

    I
Im still confused about the windshield in the Meadors 40.The center divider is different than all the 40s I see.Is that factory or a modification.

  14. looks like they grafted a convertible windshield on it.

I got my heap running yesterday and took it out for a little drive. I have a few issues to work thru but I got the newly louvered hood on today. I'm going to work at getting it as sano as I can tomorrow and then drive it down to the Starbird-Devlin car show on Thursday. I'm looking forward to visiting with my friends and show goers. bw.jpg

That's great UNCLECHET! But how about a picture of that louvered hood you were talking about?

Thanks, Bader2 .... it isn't the back bumper ... it's the license plate mount. A PO drilled for the mount crooked and I need to reposition it on the lower valence. Just not sure about just how to do it without anything showing from the previous FU. I'll figure it out.

If you look at the bumper in relation to the tires in the pic,the right side tire has more showing, leading me to suspect it starts at the bumper.

Damn, I think you are right .... hadn't noticed it. Looked at the pic and went out to look at the car ... the right side bumper bracket is loose .... not sure how/when that happened ... thanks for the heads up.

I think it was built by Roadstar here on the HAMB, circa 2004. He called it "Voodoo Child".

I was told long ago that Lobeck's coupe had a little plaque on the fire wall that read....."A 40 without flames is like sex without a tongue" Anybody that can confirm this!?!?!
