I could be? But I don't know any history on it, but I'm sure it was a magazine worthy car when fresh. A lot of times these little cars are all hacked up. Someone did this one right.

There is a local guy that has one with a 60hp flathead V8 hooked to the original trans and driveline he is gonna finish one of these days. A friend of mine has one he bought in 1971 he put a Fatman ch***is under it and it drives really good.

It looks a LOT like an Anglia that a guy in my Dad's car club built back in the 70's. It was from Union, Iowa. I'll PM you his contact info.

I thought of that car immediately myself.

Very nice buy. I like this Anglia better than the orange one you had.

Me too. This is basically a car I've always dreamed of. I contacted the original builder tonight. Was originally built in 74, painted in 76. He sold it in 1992, then shortly after that lost its whereabouts. He was happy to hear from me. The car has had many mechanical upgrades since he sold it.

So it is the same car that Alchemy and I knew as kids? Cool. Glad it's in good hands. Are you bringing it up to Des Moines this summer?

Nice Anglia, it reminds me of one I built for a basketball player several years ago. The guy was eleventh feet tall and dead set on the car. I ended up moving the seat back so far, the quarter window was his side window and the door window was his vent window. Watching him get out reminded me of the spring snake being released from the peanut brittle can! He sure loved the car and drove the snot out of it. Sounds like you will enjoy yours just as much. Congradulations, nice buy!

No DesMoines this year, we are planning to take it to the Meltdown Drags in Byron IL a couple weeks after that. I hope to run my Henry J at the HAMB DRAGS.

I knew it! There are a couple other cars I remember from club members back then. I'd sure like to see them today as well. Stuff like that shapes your automotive tastes for the rest of your life, whether you realize it or not.

What is really cool is that this car looks exactly the same as it did in 1976 (except for the wheels). My Dad's car also looks the same as it did when he finished it in 1976 (except for the wheels). They both had a similar brownish/rootbeery color scheme. Probably both in lacquer. We get to see my Dad's old car most years at Back to the Fifties in the Twin Cities. It lives in Rochester now.

Growing up in the 70's has probably also shaped the taste of my brother, since he is currently freshening up a '32 coupe that will ooze 1970 when it's done. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/deuce-coupe-straight-out-of-the-70s.982624/
