Looking gold<- auto correct from good but I'll let it stick ;)

  3. I used one of those new detent spring kits in my roadster and found the shifting was way to stiff...popped em out and replaced with the originals and it shifts great now. Just a heads up...

  5. What did you use for paint on your TT and banjo? Turned out nicely.

At the risk of sounding corny, few things in life make me as happy as seeing friends accomplishing their goals. I don't think ASS could of hired a better person with the genuine passion for hot rods. Really great to see how you've grown and where you're going, this car was just along for the ride.

    Keep kickin' "ASS".

I agree wit LSGUN. You have come a long way from the kid in the single car garage in Amarillo. You were game then and tackled some serious shit on your own. You could see what needed to be done and were not satisfied if it didn't work the first time. Your artist eye will see you through this. Your welds are assume. It is good to see you in the middle of so much space, support, parts and tools. You've earned this.

  10. Looks ( . )( . ) bro!

  11. Hey, @TexasSpeed , would you mind documenting the F250 brake conversion and assembly when you get to it? I don't think I've ever manage to find a thorough enough documentation of the parts and process.

  12. Nice work ! Hope to see it and you at LSR and no rain storm like we had at ASS last year . I'll be in the 39 pu in my avatar, look me up and the beer will be on me . Congrats, Blue .

Thanks for the kind words everyone!

I believe it was to clear the panhard bar. I was hoping I would see why on RoadFarmer's '47 sedan but his sedan uses lever shocks and not tube shocks.

Anderson seems to love his. There are varying opinions on these.. It could be your spring was just too stiff, but I have my original detents stashed away in case I agree with your opinion.

Thank you. It was a Rustoleum product. Enamel black, if I remember right. I just grabbed them out of the paint cabinet at work and will have to buy more anyways. It's a spray bomb.

Thank you guys! Your words mean a lot to me! It seems like ever since I moved down here to the shop, everyone has had nothing but nice things to say about me. I was told that I was a popular topic at the GNRS because everyone would go up to John and Rocco and ask about me. That made my year! I'm just a kid obsessed with hot rods but I'm glad people enjoy watching that. :D

I don't know if I could provide a better tech article on that than what is on here already.. Really, all I know is that the F2-3/F250-350 plates are what you need, 1946-1948 passenger car hubs (mounted on the outside of the drum from the factory), and obviously Buick drums. I sent my hubs off to Bob Wilson to have him machine them so they mount to the drum from the outside. From what Anderson told me, Bob turns the little lip on the back side of the hub down so it fits in the opening of the drum, then he machines holes in the drum that you bolt to the drum through the back. I will have to drill the Ford bolt pattern through the drums myself and install wheel studs.

If you want the hubs to mount through the back, then that involves making a spacer ring that fits in between the drum opening and the lip on the outside of the hub which is a little more work - as well as turning down the outside of the hubs to fit against the drums.

I finished up welding the bottom of the frame, making boxing plates to fill in where I cut out the old "K-member" and redid a few of my old MIG welds with the TIG instead.

    Got the chassis rolling again..

    ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1454871647.268174.jpg

Threw the mock-up drivetrain in there, bolted on some knick-knacks, and bolted on the brakes for mock-up..

I couldn't resist throwing the Buick drums on there for a quick look-see. I like how the brakes all look like old hot rod parts. I probably won't clean them up much.. The body will be left as is, so a little character here and there won't hurt.

I'll have to make 1.25" spacers for the transmission to get the drivetrain at the optimal angle.

    ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1454871960.628669.jpg

And maybe notch the center of the X-member for a little room around the radius rod mount.

    ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1454871988.862648.jpg

But I really love how the radius rods all mesh in with the X-member so well. I made the radius rod mounts years ago before I even contemplated the X-member and it all falls in together. The parking brake cable thing will have to take some serious thinking though.

Check out how the X-member just disappears into the A frame from a worm's eye view.. :)

That's all for now.. Thanks everyone!

I realized today that my pictures are all kind of bright.. My phone's camera is pretty tired and dirty behind the lens. I'll throw up a filtered picture every now and then..

Thanks everyone! So, since the last update, I radiused the rear rails..

Made a new pedal assembly mount patch for the X-member and welded it in.

    ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1455215242.710996.jpg

Then had a co-worker machine me some body mounts in exchange for some welding I did on his taillight stands. Then I welded the body mounts in..

    ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1455215297.594220.jpg

Then it got a little late last night but I said "why stop here..? I'm just about ready to mount the body.."

The plan now is to get the body solid now that it's bolted to the frame..
