History Looking for history of this Washington area, blue channeled model A roadster. Last registered 1966

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Hitchhiker, Feb 17, 2016.

  1. So I recently acquired a old model A channeled roadster. Story goes that the father of the guy I got it from bought it in the early 70's for the 1932 grill shell. It was definitely on a model A frame. Engine unknown. It had the trunk filled and a passenger side fill neck in the above decklid panel. The trunk was carpeted. The doors were welded shut. probably a 5 inch channel. it had the stock firewall cut out or "smoothed". rear lights way out in the corners of the below deck lid panel. Car was found in the Seattle Area. It was sapphire blue. any leads would be appreciated. I'm just throwing this out there, looking for anything just in case.

Don't know if it helps, but that plate was issued in Pierce County.

  11. Back in the day you could tell what county a Washington plate was issued in by the letters... All of the Whatcom county plates started with "F" in the early sixties.

I am sort of surprised to see the fenders? Maybe Washington had a fender law. Looks more like an opposite coast rod?

How did the left quarter get so rotted? Nice find, hope you rebuild it. Bob

  16. We have a "fair weather" fender law. Not sure when it was put on the books, but as long as its not raining no fenders is legal..... The problem is it rains a lot.

It was on it's side in a shed for 40 years and rats made a nest in the drivers side. I just got another quarter panel today and some rough doors and I am hopefully getting a frame tomorrow. So I'm pretty actively trying to bring her back. I also have a full banger drive train. and such, so should be fairly simple besides the whole completely rebuilding the body thing.

The plate is 65 to 67 only, Pierce County, Washington if that helps.

Is there more of that light blue thats showing on the pass. side of the cowl? Is it on the cycle fenders?Blues like that were pretty popular late fifties, the dark blue may be a second paint job, that patch of light blue could be another clue to the cars original identity.
    Filled deck lid too...

  21. The guy to ask is Marty Strode, if it was running in Oregon he'd know. I don't recall it in Portland at all, but I was a teenager then. Marty would know. My bet is it's a Washington car all along.

  22. I kind of like that look ...... a little. Ok, a lot actually . (Sorry Hitchhiker .... just dropping some angel dust into your thread - ..... do it .... do it .... doooooo it )
