I thought I would upload a couple of photos of this project car I bought from Rudy at Fullerton Fabrications in Brea, CA. Body came from Hawaii and Rudy and his son Jasper worked on it for about s year to get it to this stage. We are looking at engine option at the moment... I'll post more photos as we progress with the work. I also have a 50 Mercury, but still lots to do on that one, so the 33 will be done first.
It's a long story, but it was Rudy that found it...a friend of his bought it sight unseen. It was shipped to CA, but when the container arrived it was s lot worse than he was told. Rudy was offered it but turned it down at the time as there were better cars around and so it sat in storage for about 10 years before it was offered to Rudy again...this time he bought it.
That thing has a wicked chop to it. Love it. Got anymore inside pics? We have a 3 window were piecing together here and it has no inner structure.
Thanks, I'll try and post a few photos later as my wifi isn't great at the moment. But for now here are a few of the interior...what little there is.
I'll be buying the wood for the doors etc next week. I also have some early photos before the chop...
Take a look at their Instagram page @fullerton_fabrications for early photos and lots of other cars too
He was originally thinking of dropping something like this in the car. https://instagram.com/p/sGmHrUu7uO/
Love the way the hood meets the '33 grille, the slender lines of the 33 (over the 34) grilles, the stylishly curved grille bars and the curved louvres on the sides on the 33s. So clean and that's a great chop. Looking forward to seeing how this one comes out.
I'd change the front tires before you go to FAAAAASSST!! I hang out at Rudy's when ever I'm down south. Took pics of that car last year when he was starting it Love it. Good luck
I was back at Rudy's last week and we now have a seat...but there is one thing I didn't think about, as I'm 6' 2" and with the seat now in the car...it seems I have a tall body as I can't see out of the car. At first we thought the way around it will be simply to reduce the height of the seat base, but with the seat base out of the car and me sitting on the floor, I can just about see out to drive it. I never thought I'd be too tall for the car, Rudy thinks he can cheat by dropping the seat 2" below the floor and taking a little out of the chassis which sounds a little drastic, but I trust his judgement.
Looking really good.I would have to have two sets of wheels. The solids look so good, but that photo with the five spokes ....Oh man!
I've just spent a couple of weeks in OC with Rudy and although other project have got in the way of this build its okay as I wanted to sit down with him and agree on the next steps. We lost that 48 olds engine set up for the car as the guy changed his mind about selling it, so it looks like we have a 60's Chevy 350 engine that Rudy had lying around the shop. This means we can finish the floor and the firewall now. The seats are going to take a bit of fiddling as I mention earlier...I'm too tall for the car as it is...but Rudy reckons he can make it work.
This is just a short video produced when I was testing a new slider for my camera, what better to use as the 33 Coupe as a test subject. The music isn't right, but it was free so it'll do for now.
I was at Rudy's a few weeks ago on the Early Times Run and saw the coupe. Very nice coupe with lots of work done by Rudy. I am 6-1 and didn't fit in the car either. I have seen the seat lowered but underneath gets real tight for the exhaust and things. Maybe a roadster would be better for you! Ha! Love the look of the coupe…Badd Ass!!!
