  3. I think it depends on the way the motor is built and the way that the collector pipes are built.

    For zoomies the power band is very narrow generally. Ideally they make you lay down a little on the bottom and gain some on the top. There is actually a whole new angle on them as well. The top fuel guys build them so that they not only deliver in the HP/Torque dept. but they also enhance traction.

    A properly built collector exhaust one built to perform more then to look good will deliver a wider power band in the desired RPM range. For example I am building a Tri Y header for my small block, it needs to stand up and deliver from 3K to 7K ( give or take 500) I am using 1 3/4 primaries into 2" secondaries. 16"x22" is the desired tube lengths. You can move your torque band in either direction by lengthening or shortening the primaries.

    There is no real reversion factor with zoomies. You still get exhaust pulses back from the end of the tube and where they are tuned to run the pulse will return in time to help scavenge the cylinder. There are formulas for that and are dependent on displacement and desired RPM. That is overly simplified, but you catch the drift of it, right?

    Just literally saw this on Jalopnik. Sorry if it is off topic but the pipes are wild. Its a Mercedes M119 twin turbo v8 from the late 80s which powered the Sauber C11 Le Mans prototype cars. ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1455787004.645931.jpg

  13. I wonder if they are hinged so that the door will still work. :D

    @Devin maybe OT but it is fun to look at, there is a lot going on there aside from just the pipes. That baby is wilder than a marsh hair.

    I'll bet the 5th pipe comes from the heat riser for the intake. Instead of blocking it they just ran a tube from it. Just a guess on my part.
