I enjoy sourcing from the net and many times the pics lead to former HAMB threads...This one posted by HAMBer Gotzy
interested me not only for being unique but also because Robert J. Palmer post #349 (page12) had a Model A with a very similar nose...
Reposting pics with the links revives excellent content already within the archive of the site itself...such excellent stuff...Thanks guys and gals...better late than never for me and others who missed it...link below

  12. It may have been staged, but we all seem to find we have a lot of money in our cars......just money spent, not money under the seats.......

In general hotrodding is not for making money...its for the thrill of the experience. So based on the analogy that build was in early stages as there was still money to spend...;)...I have no regrets and maybe a quarter or two under my seat. Looking at the old land speed stuff definitely makes me yearn to have a place just to go and let er rip...The street limits the real fun but it is all I know and I do respect it.

I like yourselves would like to see more pics...anyone.
Being the car was shown and what we can see the quality of the car is evident. Being somewhat odd made this a great place to highlight it and may have played a part in the fact there are minimal pics.

  15. I was just making fun of us in this neat hobby.

I build my own cars and I have a lot of fun doing it.

Sure the money flows, but not like a guy who pays someone to build it.

I also have never sold one of my rods/kustoms. That's why I have four of 'em, having had 40 COOP since 1972.

I was fairly frugal with the builds until I got addicted to chrome on 33 COOP.

As to the wanting to let 'er rip....head out to the Salt in September and have a try at the 130 MPH Club. It's a neat experience.

Thanks to Todd Korol for this pic.

Irish its all good. The way my lifes playing out and don't get me wrong...things are good but making it out there especially with the rod would be a pipedream and that place looks breathtaking.
You sure are in a good place. That is an exceptionally shot and a great looking dare I say unique machine. You got us going now...;). It would be great to see a closeup artsy shot for the thread albeit that first one is awesome.
Its always better when you guys post your rides. Paste a link to any threads showcasing it as well. Its helps revive great threads.
Great talking to you...and thanks for the humour and hotrod...and bringing the salt to Ontariario and a few other places which is all the better. Spreading the gospel so it is called.
Hey you have several rides and you have been around here for quite some time...So post any others you feel may suite the thread theme...thanks again.

    Half fendered in Ontariario

  17. OK, Stogy. You asked for it.

Back in December 2002, when I had fininshed 33 COOP, I had it in a Street Cars of Desire show at the Timonium Fairgrounds. While there, I was asked to show it two weeks later along with about 15 other cars at the Baltimore Auto Show (new cars). While there, it was shot for a poster along with three other cars. This is from that portion of the show:

The grin on my face was hard to get rid of:

    DSCN0300.JPG

I did not post on the HAMB until 2012, when I drove 40 COOP out to Bonneville and that is when I put some daily emails on a thread because some were not able to see the pics I had on their computers:

    http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/...iii-please-do-not-post-on-this-thread.724285/

I first went out there in 33 COOP in 2006. I will try to put those emails into a thread soon. I didn't make 130 mph then.

So I went out again in 2009 and did it. I will try to get those emails on a thread soon also. In the meantime, it was in HRM in 2010:

    http://www.hotrod.com/cars/featured/hrdp-1006-1933-plymouth-hot-rod-coupe/

Mostly I just enjoy driving the shit out of it.........sun was shining here in Maryland, so out I went today.

Thank you Irishjr. And you delivered...That is a cool and fast machine and I would say you won the race... You more or less have experienced the dream on so many levels. Nice colour choice and congrats on your magazine showcasing.
I think it is interesting seeing your 40Coop as well being up close and personal to Doug Rices former beauty.
There is another coupe just above that was driven by member Pete1 whom is a personal friend of Doug's and raced with him. Check out the link.

I didn't used the stock grille, some guy's don't like it but mostly I get positive responses about it. Guess no matter what you do there's always different opinions.
    Anyway I like it :)

Post #501 page17 there is a Kurtis race car with rims very similar to yours. Don't know much about them. I am surprised how modern some old things looked. Great work on your Coupe by the way its a knockout...and thanks for sharing from over yonder.

I think the thing is, most hot rodders out there are engineers, not artists. Maybe in the past you could build a butt ugly hot rod and no one cared as long as it was fast. However these days hot rods are more about style than driving fast. So by following the tried and tested formula guys can build a rod and get the "look" right. Also don't forget the material we are working with is expensive these days so no one wants to get it wrong.
I don't build belly button cars but that's not to say I wouldn't out of principle. It's just that I like to bring my own ideas into a build, especially in the chassis area. I don't think anyone could accuse this build I'm finishing off now of being too conformist. It's a '27 Model-T body sitting on a '47 Mercury chassis.
It takes styling cues from 1950ies dry lakes cars but also from pre-war German Grand Prix machines.

  25. Stogy- I had been reluctant to post 40 COOP on this thread because I considered this for hot rods, not Kustoms. But I guess if it's at Bonneville and I tried to go fast in it........it must be at least partly a HOT ROD!

The Doug Rice Coupe (raced on the Salt 1952-1954) is the car made me fall in love with '39-'40 Fords back in 1957:
