You still do beautiful work. How much did those bumper guards cost? I'm still thinking on filling a box with some stuff and seeing how much shipping would be. [ where the hell is Latvia anyway?]
Is there a way to remove chrome from a bumper at home besides grinding it off? I plan on altering my bumpers prior to having them chromed and need to weld up some bolt holes and maybe cut and shape them first.
ohh, again this shitty face, old, fat, sick, weak American ...., came heare and u will see where is power, no in your chair in garden and not in your monkey brains
There is one big project with few RR cars, cant remember how much for this, must to check papers Without strike bath onliest way is just to grind of all chrome/nickel/copper layer. But there is 95% fail in this operation, if u dont know how to do that!
Sudzhis , if your response to burnout bob was being mean as it sounded you can bug off. I have never seen taxi so if that was part of the show, maybe you weren't.
Lighten up. The show (Taxi ) was just a stupid lame sitcom of no real consequence or importance, so who gives a crap ! Please keep posting your work. It looks great.
By the way, who from the Hamb is going to be the first to crate up some parts for shipment to Latvia and have their parts featured on this thread. Any guinea pigs (volunteers ) ? I looked into shipping and there are several major companies that ship securely to Latvia. It would be interesting to see someone blaze a trail for the rest of us to see if it went well and was worth the effort.
About these shows- i did not saw show, i just google what does these words mean. I dont like stupid people thats all!
I dont think that main problem with chroming in USA is bumpers and big parts. Main problem starts with potmetal parts and basically these parts is not big at all SO- shipping is not the problem. For example full set of MB or Jaguar interior chrome goes in shoes box Buick 1958 all potmetal chrome set takes not a big box too!
If no one has already do so, I am going to look into the shipping tomorrow and, if I can find a reasonable quote, will send (2) 56 Ford Parking lights & trim pieces to Sidzhis. If this works out, I'll certainly report back with results. For these parts, I'm in no big hurry, and they are replaceable, if lost. Jim
Sudzhis, I am not in the re-chroming business, but do know the pricing in my life goes like this: # 1 re-chroming, # 2 plumber, # 3 dentist.
I've got a friend who just had some '58 Edsel bumpers done (three pieces, rear and left/right front) and the rear was $500. This isn't 'perfect' show chrome, just very nice driver quality. That's no shipping charge included by the way...
I've had some very nice back & forth conversations with Sudzhis: I checked into shipping with the USPS for a 15# box of Parking lights & Extensions for a 56 Ford. One way from the West Coast is almost exactly $100.00. Other shippers are more. Much more, as much as $280.00 one way. The shipping is the problem. They will locally rechrome these for about $500.00. New lights are available for $600.00 & includes new wiring These are pot-metal parts. Sudzhis would have to be working for nothing. Not fair to either party, in my estimation. Jim
Hii! Long time no posts- there is Rolls Royce silver ghost front grill....! All process- unset/strike off old layers, sanding, welding/copper/nickel/chrome. All putted back together with some 120 solid rivets! Lot of job. Some pictures. Bentley S2 grill coming
Man that's nice. I sure wish I could have you plate all my parts, front axle and wishbones front and rear and a bunch of smaller parts.
Ohh-- pain in the a**** This is Jaguar xk120 front grill Owner bring it in box in dismantle condition In usa some bad master tryed to restore it, but FAIL Main thing is that bonnet is expencive- around 7000 eur and impossible to fit another grill. There was only two ways - buy a new bonnet and new grill or try to restore grill. Ohh wery wery complicated that was But result is fantastic
