Hi i've been offered a nice 58 DelRay sedan delivery as a swap plus cash for my car but i've not a clue what they're worth Its a nice car so maybe i'll keep it but would like to have an idea what its worth.I've not come across one before
Is it a true sedan delivery or a station wagon with filled-in rear windows? (I don't know enough about sedan deliveries to tell from the pictures. Also - drive train? brakes?
I do not show a "handyman" two door wagon for 1958. Look this over very carefully 2X, check for filler panels. There were about 16,500 2 door wagons built in 1958. Rick
Sedan delivery has a one piece tailgate and rear window assembly. The entire back goes up. Not split in two like a wagon with separate tailgate and rear window. Nice 58. They are their own animal when it comes to parts. What car are you trading? What it's worth is often relative and subjective. What is it worth to you to have a nice driver instead of busting your knuckles, chasing parts on a car, etc?
VIN Tag Decoding – 1958 and 1959 Chevrolet Here is how to decode the VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) on American made 1958 and 1959 Chevrolet B-body (full size) cars. Locate the VIN tag on the left door jamb. It should be spot welded to the hinge pillar. Note: This cowl, or trim tag style only applies to Chevrolet cars produced in the USA. The first character represents the model and indicates 6 cylinder or v8 engine. 1st Digit Series What It Is A 1100 1958 : 6 cylinder Delray or Yeoman wagon 1959 : 6 cylinder Biscayne or Brookwood wagon B 1200 1958 : 8 cylinder Delray or Yeoman wagon 1959 : 8 cylinder Biscayne or Brookwood wagon C 1500 1958 : 6 cylinder Biscayne or Brookwood wagon 1959 : 6 cylinder Bel Air, Parkwood or Kingswood wagon D 1600 1958 : 8 cylinder Biscayne or Brookwood wagon 1959 : 8 cylinder Bel Air, Parkwood or Kingswood wagon E 1700 1958 : 6 cylinder Belair or Nomad wagon 1959 : 6 cylinder Impala or Nomad wagon F 1800 1958 : 8 cylinder Belair or Nomad wagon 1959 : 8 cylinder Impala or Nomad wagon G 1171 1958 : 6 cylinder sedan Delivery| 1959 : 6 cylinder sedan Delivery or El Camino H 1271 1958 : 8 cylinder sedan Delivery 1959 : 8 cylinder sedan Delivery or El Camino The second and third characters represent the year. 58=1958, 59=1959. Tex told me that the new 1958 chevy that they gave him to drive was a pain in the tail but very handy for hauling his stuff.....
Did you guys miss that the OP is from France?.....He didn't say, but if this car is IN France (or elsewhere in Europe)...it would be one rare bird....OEM Sedan Delivery or not. May have a bearing on it's value......up, up and away! Ray
What's it worth in the USA then sir looks like a two piece trunk from here There's an awful lot of stuff leaving Europe now and heading back to the states.Ive had more offers on my 36 roadster from you guys than anyone in Europe Here's some more of the 58 for a valuation I found one up at 41,000 clams but i'm guessing he was just fishing
looks real good on the outside - post pics of interior/motor - what engine/trans/rearend/suspension,etc? it is your decision - which do you like more - which one would be easier to sell in your part of the world? a Handyman Wagon is rare, and so is a Yeoman Wagon to find in equal condition to wagon you post in pics, $25-40,000 is not unreal
Real NICE Chevy DjNeil yup -- that's a "porch roof" would LOVE to have THAT on my Merc inSTEAD of this door you open the *door* in bad weather -- everythings WET instantly
thanks for the compliment its a nice car its been converted to floor change which i'll put bqck to the column it originally would have had one seat but its had a passenger seat added its got fender skirts with it and 3"lowered coils so may just drop it and drive it
You traded a 4 door Mercury for that? You done good! If there are any more out there with a similar situation, I'm going looking for a cheap 4 door Merc!
