    Yes, 27-28.
If it's what ya want and priced right, go for it, it's a labor of love, but if i can do it, you can....
one day here ya are holding it together

could just build one out of rectangular tubing, like a Model A style.

  5. Unless it is a TT steer clear of T frames you want to find a Chev, Dodge or some other off brand chassis from that era. An A model chassis would be adequate & yes even 4x2 RHS tubing.

When I built the frame for my A coupe I had a front and rear crossmember and 2x4 3/16" box tube. I traced the shape of the body on the shop floor with a sharpie and made the rails from that shape. Lots of planning ahead. It will make for a great unique hot rod. When was the last time anybody saw a '27 Chevy?

If the price is right (~$500), it's a good starting point. But it would be a labor of love and require a lot of focus. You say you already have two projects? Walk away.

nothing wrong with a stock chevy frame. my 31 chevy truck sat on a stock frame, my 28 did, and my 32 does. plus they can be had for WAY cheaper than 32 ford rails

  10. That looks so damn cool, great job.

To me the fire wall does not look like a Chevy, I'm thinking more like a 25-8 Chrysler coupe missing the top.

  16. Ah... no it is Chev

    '26 roadster firewall for comparison.

Hi All, all the pictures are inspiring, but I couldn't get him off his number of 1k. I had to back down from it.... it just didn't do it for me at that price... especially all the work to get it to a roller stage. I know I will find my roadster, coupester, coupe...

Keep your eyes peeled. You will find your roadster.

  19. That body you've got isn't that bad! Like pbrmeasap stated just start with a simple frame and start setting the body on that and it'll start to make a lot more sense.

I'd probably still go with a Model A frame since there are so many parts and options!

The guy has your contact info and phone number. If he gets in need of money, or his wife gets on his case, he might just call you up and say come get it for $500. Or someone else wants it more and he will sell to them.

Every 'deal' I knew better than...(and then 'went for it', 'cause I'd NEVER find another one...) proved there were more in garages/sheds/barnyards that hadn't been 'discovered' yet!

There are more in Fresno than here (60 miles North)
I'd just ask everybody that shows any interest in your projects. They probably know other guys with similar interests!
I bought a '32 5 window (all apart, freshly painted by Flyer in San Jose: it was 1961, and the kid that owned it had been accepted at M.I.T. Suffice it to say his college opportunity eclipsed his hot rod interest! $275 got it, fresh maroon paint, all N.O.S. fenders & running boards from San Jose Ford's upstairs loft, pro-built '53 Olds mill, '37 LaSalle box, chrome front end, Olds rear.
Just because I asked a guy that knew him.

Don Orosco 'found' the famous Dick Flint "Nose Car" (red '28 roadster done by Valley Custom in early '50s) by a tip. It was in a Fresno garage.
Likewise with the Jim Jacobs Niekamp car. Rumor turned into 'pay dirt'.
One more: The "Highland Plating Special". Fresno garage, chrome was green, but car was all there. Ron Weeks made this old Dick Flint/Seiden Bros. car do another debut, acting on a 'tip'!
    They're NOT all gone.

Oh, and one more: The Anderegg roadster, (America's Most Beautiful Roadster, 1955) passing thru 3 or so owners...
the one in Gustine got a ticket for the windshield being too low...had someone put a full height '26 T w/s on, painted it black, drove it a couple of times and garaged it. (1978? Vague, but in there somewhere)
Harry Craycroft heard the story, knew the car, (it had been 'lost') found the owner, bought it, and drove it back to Hayward. Harry did a body-off refurbish, added some stainless cycle fenders, and changed the car significantly.
Original builder Ray Anderegg bought the car back from Harry (1982) and commissioned Bob Ogden to 'restore' the roadster to its former style.
Ogden had a different 'vision', changed the car to 'better Street Rod trim', Ray and his son drove it and did the Goodguys thing, but it wasn't the same.
    Ray sold it.
Point being: They are still out there...just not in plain sight. But there's always somebody that knows...

It might be a 28 coupe it's hard to tell with out the cowl posts to judge the height of the top. Both share the same lines.
