yes, and i bet a lot of the early cars started out with fenders, that were never taken off. today we are dealing with building cars from parts and finding good [50+ years later] fenders for the cars. i can see why guys choose not to do it and why the trend is popular. when i just redid my car, i believe it was the first time the front fenders had been off. the body has never been off either. fenders are also expensive and time consuming. cops busted balls more also. my dad said he always wanted the car to look like just and old car..............then surprise them with it's quickness. that would put it into the hot rod category right?
I see LOTS of build threads on here where guys are starting with a car with fenders, and leaving them off. I recently wound up with a very cherry full set of '26/'27 T fenders, splash aprons, hood aprons and hood for a bargain price, thanks to a fashion-conscious rod-abilly.
Yeah, I think a lot of builders are a little mis-informed as to what was really rolling around other tha socal When the weather is crappy and you are driving you daily driver do you want to be cleaning it all the time? Or were you referring to the lack of tattoos and other such "period correct" stylings? LOL
Exactly. The whole concept of "hotrod's don't have fenders" is about as in keeping as "only coupes and roadsters are hotrods". Back in the day, there was a lot more hotrod diversification.
I'm going with full fenders for a daily driver. I figure I've paid my dues, getting wet on a bike for years. I'd like to see somebody post a pic of an open wheel car throwing four rooster tails in the rain.
Knew I had these somewhere, took me a long time to find them. Beaner, I also have an early Hot Rod article on this car, when it still had flipper caps on it, I can find that and post it, if you want to see it.
