What can you do with my favorite awkward car, the Armstrong-Siddeley 234/236?

What the hell is that? ha ha! Awkward is putting it mildly.
I´ve never even seen a photo of one of those until today.

Still, it scrubs up amazingly well...

Not quite an Alfa Romeo 1900 CSS, but as close as I´ll ever get.
There´s probably a better choice of rear lights, but it´s late and I´m tired.

 

Could I see what this would look like in bright red on the cab. bed and wheels. Fenders and running boards left alone. Thanks!

 

Since you guys are playing around with English stuff, how about this Humber Hawk? Been thinking about buying it as it's nearby and fairly cheap.

Here's a Super Snipe I did some time back.

The roof line is a little high at the back on these, but you could chop the roof at the back only, without actually cutting the glass.

The other thing with these is that the wheels look like they're set too far back on the body. Depending on how much work you are up for, you could push the axles forwards to help the proportions. No simple job, but if you were doing the full chassis/gasser style thing, then it might not be too much worse.

This diner is just around 2 blocks from my house. It sat vacant for years and now they have turned it in to a Habit.
Mearle just dies last week and the Habit is planning some sort of tribute to him.

Your renditions of Brit 4 doors begs the question...How can the British Designers be so close yet sooo far from an elegant design? The changes you make to them transform them from frumpy to fabulous!

 

I think it´s mostly down to the generally small size of these cars. When the car´s only VW Beetle sized or similar, then you pretty much have to have a dorky, out of proportion, high roofline just so there was some headroom.
I think it was probably a case of the poor designer being handed a chassis layout for the (approx 80" or so) wheelbase and then having to somehow fit four adults (probably wearing hats) into it.
And make sure you add four doors - UK built coupes and two doors were rare indeed - and the end results were never going to be all that wonderful.

 

The full fendered forever thread put the bug in my head to wonder what my T would look like with Model A fenders on it. I would love to see what that would look like, with as little else changed as possible. The rear fenders would be "floating" a bit like they did on the early T's, not sure how that'll translate to A fenders but would be interesting to see. I much prefer the 30-31 fenders to the earlier style.

I've only got two decent side-shots of the car and neither are the best quality which I apologize for but I'll post both in case one works better than the other.

And a big thanks to the photoshop artists who contribute. I doubt I'd actually add fenders to this car, but the photoshop work is often very helpful in a build, I know OahuEli did one of my girlfriend's car and the finished product turned out virtually identical so that was great.

Thanks Moose! Not bad at all! The rear fenders work a lot better than I would have guessed. I doubt I'll actually do it but it's great to be able to see what it'd look like, I appreciate it.
