Has anyone out there had an occasion to purchase parts from a gentleman named Graham Vermillion in Virginia? If so, is he reputable?
Let me guess: rare, valuable part(s) at a super price. Googling his name results in thread from bimmerforum, where a member there says he is a scammer who responds to WTB posts. I would think "gentleman" is a misnomer.
If your buying from Him, go there and do the deal. If he"s buying from you, do cash deal only. This will flush Him out if He's a scammer.
bimmerforums say Mendota Va http://www.bimmerforums.com/forum/showthread.php?2287783-**-Scammer-Warning-**
Ask him if he posts on HAMB, fordbarn or the Early Ford V8 site? Ask him what screen name he uses? If he is in the hobby he probably posts on these sites and by reading a few of his posts you can get a feeling if he is legit. If he doesn't post, ask why? Ask him where he saw your ad looking for parts. The usual flags, has he sent you pictures of the parts? How does he want to be paid? What does he say you tell him you have a friend that lives near him that you would like to have pick up the parts? Keep us posted. Charlie Stephens
If he's any where around me I can meet him for you... Say around Abingdon, VA, all though I'm in NC, it's not a far drive.
I'm 1.5 hours away. If you give me a heads up I'll load my 2 boys up and go on an adventure. We do about every Saturday.
He responded to my ad looking for original front and rear bumper brackets for a 34 Ford. I asked for a picture, which he sent. (I wish I could have bought the parts that were in the photo - they looked very nice.) After a few more checks, I concluded he is a scammer.
SW corner, supposedly Abingdon. Very rural. An address he provided for sending a Moneygram looked like little more than a shack near Mendota. I actually got him to call me. Very heavy non-US accent.
Yep, same MO. Another one that contacted me around the end of last year was "Brian Santos". Same approach.
Charlie. He went underwater when I used the exact challenges you recommend. Said he found the ad on Early Ford V8. Another that used the same approach, except from Connecticut was a "Brian Santos".
Thanks for the offer. I told him I could do exactly that and haven't heard from him since. My guess is that he is in "Abingdon", Nigeria.
Oh! I happen to have one of those! If I can find it under the pile of parts for my 28 Fenortnarod, I'll send you a photo.
