  5. Gary: Having spent a lot of time on the Gulf coast, this looks a lot like car that caught up in the middle of a hurricane.

  6. Gary; This sure brings back memories! I lived in the area in '64 and spent some time on signal hill (mostly at night). Good looking c1 too. Tim

  7. I feel the same way. 50's and especially 60's cars don't seem like "old cars", 30 and 40's cars do. I matter of perspective is all. When people are horrified at the braking, handling etc of these cars I just laugh! Didn't seem so bad to me!

  10. Big rodeo town, it's the slogan of the Pendleton Round-Up and most likely a double entendre for the motel - the rooms the keys opened up were universal we found out, and you put a chair under the door handles to keep others from waltzing into your room.

  11. I stand corrected. It looked like 348 flags inside that "V" to these old eyes. I shud have known better.

Aerial view of Glendale looking northwest towards Burbank and the Verdugo Mountains. The San Gabriel Mountains and the La Canada, La Crescenta area are in the background. San Fernando Road curves to the left towards open fields. The Los Angeles River is in the bottom left. Photo dated: Nov. 10, 1927.

Seen from the air you have to look carefully at the foreground (across the road from the buildings) to see the pits among the trees and in the open fields.
In the upper portion of the picture is a field of oil derricks.

What is the collective noun for a bunch of guys dressed in white sitting on the front of the roof of their Oldsmobiles?
Noted that the Olds's are all very neatly aligned for the pic.
