You guys ever put a fogger in an old barn find type project?

I really dont have an infestation, but get new spider webs various places and in the engine bay on my project 56 cad.

Rarely do I come in contact but saw one little nasty black one recently....was able to get him with a flathead screw driver but it makes me creepy crawly reaching in unknown territory while working on it haha.

I hear mixed things but was thinking of setting off a fogger in the garage just to get the *******s.

    Thoughts?

Never in the interior. Drive it more, and you won't have this problem. ;)

If you do use a fogger in the car and/or garage make sure you don't have an ignition source, like a water heater, nearby.

My projects will sit as I work on them,, and yes I have bug bombed them. Never with a completed interior. To do it I cover the vehicle with either sheets, not fresh from the closet, or painters covers. I light off the bomb in the body, and I have just put one under the car with open windows so the fumes will drift inside
You have to do one kill, leave the vehicle alone then do it again 3 days later to take care of the eggs that will hatch.. the first go-around kills the live ones and sometime doesn't kill the eggs..
I have had enough spiders drop onto my face while I am under a dash to be driven to 'Kill the ******s'.

Before I started working on my AD, I noticed black widow spiderwebs, so I bought a couple of bug bombs and placed them under the truck. Worked great.

best to roll car out of garage when using bug bombs. spray degreaser on complete underside of car while outside - let set for a couple of hours and then hose off - after threat to you from bug bomb walk around inside & outside of garage with strong bug spray - let it all set for as long as you can before rolling car back in - be good time to do a good cleaning of garage.

Lived in Hawaii before and had a couple of cl***ic cars (69 Pontiac wagon and a 70 Ford 2 door 390 ci LTD) that I had to bomb... We had some huge roaches that found a home in the interiors.

I have more problems with rodents than bugs. Gotta love the smell of burning rat pee.

I did couple times......put a bug bomb inside my two-stall garage, with the car doors, trunk and hood 'open'....put the can underneath the car, 'not inside'...worked great, and didn't have any bugs in the garage either for months....then repeated again a week later for 'peace o' mind';) and 'just in case'....hate them black-widows!!!

  10. We only have three bad *** spiders down here.
The native Katapo, the Aussy Redback, and another Australian import, the White tail.
White tail is quite aggressive, and when I was tearing down my old 35 Chevy, a big armoured looking ****** came out and took a look at me, from under the left front fender. I hesitated, and he went back under fender.
Used a can of CRC as a flamer thrower, and don't know if I fried him or not, so I bug bombed the shed. Never saw it again.

Not long after I bought my '39 Ford Woodie I noticed carpenter ants crawling from beneath the old vinyl roof covering. That got my attention! I set off about 3 foggers, (old 4 bay garage) and shut the doors.
Next day I called an exterminator, just to be sure. He took a whiff and ***ured me everything in there was dead.

  13. Raiman, I think the black widow is the state spider here in East T.N. LOL.I have found so many at my mountain home and when I was working on my 56 buick wagon.I am surprised I haven't been bitten by one yet.Bruce.

  14. HPIM0323.JPG I wonder if bug bombing my shop would be a good idea before I paint my Olds station wagon.I have fly paper hanging up now and it catches a lot of critters???Bruce.Heres a picture of one of my other wagons.

You guys have lots more harmful bugs up there, than we do.
    We don't have snakes either.
Even our Ants are pretty tame, and don't bite.

HaHa...I bought an old 39 Buick once..quickly found it had a bumble bee nest under rear seat...Bug bombs DO NOT work..finally had to remove seat and remove the nest and let the car sit for a month until all bees found another home...

the white tail can cause some sort of skin rot, red back will make you sick and there is the funnel web that can kill you so I bug bomb the shed often and cars get done if I find webs inside :)

  19. Kiewijeff, we have copper head snakes up here too, but I only saw them when we 1st moved to our mountain top home and I decided to rake out the ditch running down our long drive way.it was full of small ones so I do it with the tractor now. The nursing home I worked in was near the wood and everytime I would cut the 6 acre yard I would hit plenty of them. In the spring the baby ones would come sliding in through the front door trying to get warm ugh!I found a nest of them under a raised piece of the side walk there so I just mixed up a wheel barrel of cement and entombed them.I hate spiders.Bruce.

Bugs are such a nuisance to me Bruce...hate em'......bug bombs have worked for me every time! I haven't had reason to put the bombs 'inside' my cars and seems like 3 cans outside the car (in the garage) works at my place and does the job, as long as the fumes can get inside the car. Fly paper might do some good for some, but I tend to walk into them more than the bugs do...haha...yuck!!! I'd rather 'zap' em in one swoop, and be done with em. Nice car!

  21. Raiman, my fly paper is up high so it doesn't bother me.I like the idea of bombing the shop before painting a car.Wonder who sell them? Thanks Bruce.

  22. And you fellas have those nasty green Ants, that bite. Saw a large nest while in Brisbane once, my buddy went and jumped on the middle of them, and millions poured outer the ground, like water, and a wave ran at him.
While at Willowbank dragstrip, there were smaller Ants crawling around on the gr***, but didn't bite me.
Guess they mainly live out doors?

I hear ya' on the 'bees'....I had a nest of yellowjackets in one of my convertibles, behind the rear seat...didn't know it at the time(was outside for few weeks), and after 5 stings in 5 seconds on my hands...I towed the car outside soon, and removed the seat, and a whole swarm suddenly appeared...tried bug bombs on the bees before, and they were resistant to it around the house...and tried 'natural' remedies, but nothing worked except Raid....bee's are awful!!!...but the raid zapped em good.

Every year we have no less than 4 Wasp nests! (Yellow jackets) They are fierce.
My friend is a fireman, has a side business recharging fire extinguishers. He GAVE me an old 'water type' extinguished from a local school. (36" X 10" chrome cylinder, large palm trigger on handle; shrader valve atop to pressurize it)
1 gallon of diesel, air it up about 45 PSI...I blasted the under hood of my '63-1/2 Galaxie, took out a large hive, killed everything in there!
Little messy, wiped it lightly with a Medical towel. None of that sheet metal's gonna surface rust, believe-you-me!

A fire extinguisher full of diesel. Can't imagine what could go wrong with that!

Bug killers are neurotoxins and I like to avoid neurotoxins. Just sayin' I wouldn't want to be driving a car that used bug killer as air freshener.
We've been led to believe this stuff is safe just because they sell it in grocery stores.
I still remember the smell of the chlordane my grandparents spread all over the freakin' yard when I was a kid. Now the stuff's illegal, for good reason.

Took the cover off the shop AC to clean filter and something fell on my shoulder, I looked up and yellow jacket wasps had been building a nest..I don't know why they didn't get exited, maybe cause I was looking in their back door..Stuck the cover back on and got the raid....What a freakin mess...Alternated between vacuum cleaner and the raid..10 minute job turned into 2 hrs up on a ladder. I use the liquid squirt/spray stuff from a gallon jug that takes care of ants, most insects and unmanly spiders..The big out side spiders I leave alone but if I find one inside it gets the Brake Clean..

I agree....bug killers are a tricky thing to deal with, and toxic. My problem is that I get swarms of yellow-jackets and lots of Black Widows, not to mention other creepy-crawlies. I've tried all kinds of ''natural'' bug deterrents, and various 'friendly' venues to fight the bees, and all they do is piss the bees off more, and chase me flappin' my arms outta the area every chance they get with furious frenzy.
I'm not a fan of anything 'sprayed' or lingering in my garage, or cars, but gotta do something, because they keep coming back, and ya' never know where Black Widows are at till ya' see em'! Common sense and careful procedures seems to be the ticket....stressing ''common sense''....if anyone has a ''natural'' remedy for fighting bees and black widows in a garage or car, and 'non' toxic or harmful to humans, and won't literally ignite my garage/cars that actually works...please do share!;) --- Ray
